Dear Parents:

Hello and welcome to the new school year! I am thrilled to have the opportunity to teach your child this
year. To let you know a little about myself, I graduated from Nicholls State University in Business
Education in May 2008. I completed my student teaching at Thibodaux High School where I taught a
semester of keyboarding. This will be my first year teaching Keyboarding at Lutcher High School, but my
seventh year at LHS. I also teach Journey to Careers, and Im very excited to continue being a bulldog.
Before coming to Lutcher, I taught 7th grade keyboarding at the Science and Math Academy. It is very
exciting to continue my career, and I am honored to have your child in my class.
Attached is a class syllabus that includes all policies and procedures. This Keyboarding class that your
child is taking in seventh grade is for high school credit. The grade they make in my class will be on
their high school transcript, and they will not have to take this class once they are in high school unless
they do not pass. Keyboarding is a graduation requirement for all pathways under the the career
diploma track. The syllabus outlines what is expected in my classroom. It is important to make a mental
note of the grading scale for quizzes, tests, homework, and nine-week exams. All assignments, grades,
class announcements, class handouts, etc. will be available at all times online through Moodle. Your son or
daughter will know how to log in to Moodle and access all of the class content.
Please feel free to call anytime to set up an appointment to meet with me. My planning periods are 1st
and 2nd (7:25-8:55). My phone number at school is (225) 258-5364. It should go straight to voice mail
where you can leave a message, and I will call you back at my earliest convenience. My email address is
mlejeune@stjames.k12.la.us so feel free to email me at any time. Email works best. I am looking forward
to having contact with you soon.
Sincerely,

Grading Scale:

Percent Letter Grade

93-100% A
85-92% B
75%-84% C
67-74% D
0-66% F

Cheating Policy:
According to district policy, any student caught cheating will receive a 0% for that assignment. Cheating on a test is
considered a Category C offense and will result in a referral. Students will also receive a 0% on the test. Talking
during a test/quiz for any reason (i.e. asking your neighbor a question) will be considered cheating. Students must
keep their eyes on their own papers at ALL times. This means no looking over the test folders to look around the
room or see what your teacher, neighbor, or friend is doing or digging in your purse, backpack, etc. if you are
caught doing so it will be considered cheating. As per the district student policy manual, if a student cheats on a
test/assignment or plagiarizes he/she will receive one after school detention, no credit on the test/assignment, and
an administrative conference.
Sharing files with other students or using another students file as your own is also considered cheating and will
result in a 0% and an office referral for both the cheater and person sharing the file.

Attendance Policy/Make-Up Work:

The student is responsible for collecting and turning in his/her makeup work. They should come and get their make
up lab slip from me upon returning to school.
By school and parish policy, if a student has an unexcused absence or tardy, he/she earns a 0% for each missed
graded activityNo Exceptions. Students will be allowed to make up the missed assignment for a 60%.
Students have 5 school days to get an absence excused.
In the case of excused absences, the student has the same number of days he or she missed to complete makeup
work. Completed makeup work must be returned in the appropriate Block Tray marked Completed work.
If a student is absent the day the test is given only, he or she is responsible for taking the test the day he or she
returns (if the absence is excused).
EVERYTHING we do in class can be located on Moodle, so students should keep up with class work even when
they are not present. It is their own responsibility to come to me to find out what was missed or make up quizzes.
Please see me at lunch. Anything that is not asked about will result in a 0%.
Because I teach so many students, it is impossible to keep track of who is out on what day, so please do your best
to keep up with Moodle and come to me at lunch for work!
Incomplete Assignment/Late Work Policy
As stated in the St. James Parish Pupil Progression Plan: A grade of I shall be given to a student on the report
card for incomplete work.
The academic grade assigned to late work shall be lowered 10 percentage points for every day that the project is
late up to -40 points. (Excluding a student with an extenuating circumstance.)
Any project that is scored lower than a 60% can be redone to get the 60%.
All late work/redone work will be due two days prior to exam day for that particular quarter.
