1. Analyze the emergence of capitalism as a dominant economic pattern and the responses to it, including Utopianism, Social
Democracy, Socialism, and Communism.

Compare and contrast how the industrial revolution impacted America and its communities
Explore the effects of Capitalism and the Captains of Industry
What major reforms were put in place during the industrial revolution that we enjoy today
The relevancy of unions and whether or not we need them today
Entrepreneurship in the 21st century, who is at the fore front and what are people doing
Unit Summary:
In this unit, students will analyze the rise of the Industrial Revolution and the economic pattern of Capitalism. Students will contrast this history with current
events and analyze the benefits/pitfalls of the systems in place. Throughout the unit students will participate in both entry-level and formative assessments like
webercise and guided notes to help establishing comprehension. This units summative assessment will be a research paper that applies the lessons from this
unit into our present day context.
