METEORIDES

1. Perseid meteoroids enter the atmosphere at

approximately 130,000 miles per hour.

2. Each day, up to 4 billion meteoroids fall to Earth.

Most of them are minuscule in size.

COMETS

1. Comets only reflect 4% of the light that falls on them,

the rest is absorbed.

2. Over 3,000 comets are known to exist in our solar system.

ASTEROID

1. There are metallic asteroids present as well. They are mostly

made of iron but may also contain other metals like platinum, gold,

palladium, iridium etc. There may be some asteroids that have half

metallic and half silicate composition.

2. Collision of asteroids with planets in known as impact event. An impact

event can shape the atmosphere of a planet and change its climate. These

impact event can be extinction-level events. For instance, it was an

asteroid that led to the extinction of dinosaurs some 65 million years ago.
