Kindy morning session

8.30 Open the doors, say hi to students and parents.


Direct the students to put away their lunch boxes/drink/fruit.
Direct students to do one page of their writing book then to a puzzle or
story.
9.00 Mat Time:
Put on the microphone (school procedure)
Ring the bell and ask students to put the puzzles away.

Sing circle song:


Lets make a circle, lets make a circle.

Sit down everyone!

Do the attendance (mark roll): Are you here today?

Use the popsticks to choose the student to count (give pointer): Sing:
How many friends are here today?
Here to work and here to play?
Student counts others with pointer.
Move board so students can see and write the number on the board.

Go through the days of the week using pointer. Sing


Sunday, Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday, Friday, Saturday.
Can you say the days, can you say the days.
Seven days a week.
Ask What day is it today? Pick a student with hand up. Change days
on calendar.
Show students the date yesterday was (6th ). Ask What number comes
after 6? Change date on calendar.

Choose another student using popsticks for the weather. Sing:


Whats the weather? Whats the weather today?
Is it rainy? Is it sunny? Is it windy? Is it cloudy?
(Student needs to say a full sentence in reply)

Now we will write our sentences. What do we need (A capital letter,


full stop and it has to make sense with actions). There are 11 friends
here to work and play. Today is Monday.
Check rules of sentence with students and tick.
9:15 Go through the literacy cards (actions and phoneme sounds) try to
cover the picture before they see it.
Monday and Tuesday introduce the new letter of the week.
Show what this letter looks like and say the sound. Discuss what other
words start with this letter. Draw pictures with words on whiteboard.

Literacy groups:
Split the children into 3 or 4 groups (3 or 4 in each depending on how
many children here).
Literacy group rotations for 10 mins each, line up at the end and move
to next rotation.
At the end of literacy groups, come back to the mat, ask What letter
sound did we learn today? Use this time to pick individual children to
say a word that it starts with or the sound for SN children for transition
to hat and outside play to prevent behaviours at the hat and door.

10:10 FMS and Outside play


10:30 Obstacle course and then play with/supervise children while playing,
ring the bell for hand washing and fruit time.

10:35 Ring bell. Students will come and line up on dots.


10:55 Pick students to go and wash hands and collect water bottles. Line up
and walk to square mats to sit on for fruit time.
