Reflections on Observation Task 4: Development of Early Writing Skills

1. What are developmental writing stages the majority of the students in?

- The majority of the students are on the emerging stage of writing the letters/ words. They can copy
what you showed them right away, but when you ask them letter some of them dont remember
and others cant understand what youre saying, my class is behind the other classes on learning
English process, because they dont have an English teacher, so they didnt find the help to practice
English.

2. Describe and explain two (2) suggested strategies that the teacher can use to help the majority of the
students within their developmental writing stage.
- An English activity book with the students name, where they have different types of activities for each
letter like colouring, matching, tracing, finding the letter between other letters, etc. a book where they can
take it with them at home and do some activities by themselves, they also will be able to identify their
name and recognize it and recognize their names letter.
- Providing students with more hands on activities: they can still colour, trace, match and all of that but in
more fun and enjoyable way, for example instead of just colouring the letter a they can colour the letter
and also colour drawings and things that start with that letter, to increase their knowledge about words,
etc.
