WH Questions & Monster Face
o Objective: Given facial features and glue, student will create a monster face with 75% accuracy of facial feature placement.
o Key Ideas:
This lesson is largely geared towards body awareness, knowledge of the five senses, and the use of a students imagination. WH Questions
such as what does your monster smell with? NOSE. What is your monster smelling today? STUDENT RESPONSE. Where is your monster at
while hes smelling the ____? Etc. This also allows for the students to further knowledge of real versus pretend, how many eyes does
your monster have? SR of 7. Do you have 7 eyes? Etc.

Literacy Circle AM
Count & Clip Monsters
o Objective: Through a partner activity, student will interact with peer and exchange 3 positive talking points (such as can you help me? Thats
right! Thanks for helping me. Lets count together. Etc.) in a single data taking period.
o Key Ideas:
Students will be given cards with various amounts of monster pictures. At the bottom of the cards are three numbers. Using a paper clip,
students will count the number of monsters and place the clip on the corresponding number. Students will be paired up for this activity.
This will allow for positive interactions between one another as well as build on developing social skills such as turn taking, speech,
helping one another, and more. This lesson also appeals to those needing fine motor help by having to pinch and place the paper clips
on the cards.

Monster Initials
o Objective: Using a letter and google eyes, student will pick up and place google eye on letter in 80% of presented opportunities.
o Key Ideas:
This activity is geared largely towards students building fine motor skills by grasping and placing small objects. This also aides in letter
recognition and self-help skills if students need to ask for help when struggling with the small google eyes.

Eye See You!
o Objective: Given a blank monster face and google eyes, student will count using one to one correspondence with 75% accuracy.
o Key Ideas:
Teacher will give a number to student, student will count and place google eyes onto blank monster face to represent number of eyes
given by teacher. This activity allows for one to one correspondence skill building as well as differentiated instruction for students
needs.

Sequencing
o Objective: Given pictures of events from story, student will organize events of the story with 80% accuracy.
o Key Ideas:
Students will analyze and order events from story read. Students will first complete activity as a group; each student will be given a card
to responsible for when ordering as a group. Cards will then be reviewed for order by paging through the story as a group. Students will
then complete ordering on own.

Feed the Monster- shapes
o Objective: Given assorted colored shapes, student will sort shapes by given category with 75% accuracy.
This lesson is geared towards the student identifying and sorting basic shapes. This activity involves the students feeding a monster the
colored shapes. By feeding the monster, students who struggle with fine motor skills will get some extra practice for fine tuning in as
well. This lesson can be modified for various student abilities: ie. more advanced will count out shapes or sort by color as well being
fed for additional difficulty/ practice, while others might sort fewer numbers of shapes presented.

Count & Match # Cards
o Objective: Using number and picture cards, student will identify numerical value for corresponding picture card with 75% accuracy.
o Key Ideas:
This lesson will hone in on students ability to again count objects and identify numbers that correspond to one another. This activity is
meant to be a partner activity where students must go around the room to find their buddy pair some students will have a card with
a number on it and others will have cards that have the monster pictures to count, the students must find the buddy pair that belongs
with their said card. This activity is one that is great for students on various levels as some will simply have to identify the number shown
while others have to actually count the pictures and identify the number associated with the amount shown. This lesson is also wonderful
for students struggling with gross motor skills as they have to get up and move about the room (ie. walking/ hopping/ sliding feet/ etc.
to find partner around room).
