Description of Assignments
Assignment 1
Consider the Structure Enclosed as Annexure -1.
Presentation on the following aspects related to
the structure have to be delivered:
1. WBS of the civil works
2. Quality Plan for Substructure
3. Quality Plan for Concrete work in
superstructure
4. Quality plan for steel work and other building
works
5. Safety Management of the project- you are
required to assess the safety risks associated
with the project and come up with the safety
management plan.
6. Environment Management of the project
You will have to assess the environmental
aspect associated with the project and present
the environmental management plan.
Assignment 2
Select any project that you were a part of during
your internship. Based on the assessment of the
quality management systems present in the
project make the presentation highlighting the
following aspects:
Project Introduction with details of the
project and the civil works associated.
Rating of the Quality, Safety and the
environment management systems based
on the system effectiveness
Strategy for enhancement of effectiveness
of the Quality, Safety and Environment
Management Systems.

Assessment for the quiz is based on the correctness of the response to the question.
General Instructions:
1. No retest is envisaged for the Quiz, as that has to be administered on LMS during the
tutorial hour. Students shall take the test in the computer lab if its free during the
tutorial hour or in any free slot in which the computer lab is available on the same day.
2. Presence of the entire group is mandatory on the date when the presentation is
 scheduled. Exemption from being present can only be given based on permission of the
instructor. In case any group member is absent without permission he/she shall be
granted zero marks for that assignment.
3. Each assignment comprises of different parts, which shall be allocated to the groups
based on the draw of lots. The CRs are supposed to keep the record of the projects
allocated to each group. In case groups are not ready with their requisite
presentation they shall be awarded zero.
4. The projects taken for assignment 2 and 3 shall not be repeated by any group
within a section.
Annexure-I
Project for Assignment 1

This is a generic layout of a thermal power plant. The project for the Assignment is Simhadri Thermal Power Plant of NTPC Ltd. Apart from the two
articles uploaded on the LMS, students are expected to find out about the structures their significance and typical features of Simhadri Plant for their
presentations pertaining to Assignment 1.
