Salary Range: $61,638 - $106,853 (based on relevant educational qualifications and experience)

Sheridan is looking for outstanding individuals to join our faculty team. The successful candidate will teach a range of
courses within the School of Community Studies including Social Service Worker, Social Service Worker Gerontology, and
Community Outreach Worker Programs. We seek a candidate with a strong connection to Indigenous people and or
communities and who applies an Indigenous framework to research and relevant social and community development
practice. An anti-oppressive approach to social work and community development which places strong emphasis on
social transformation and change to promote equity and social justice is required.
Sheridan faculty provide academic leadership to programs and courses within their areas of expertise and contribute to
the creation of a learning-centred environment where students can develop to their full potential. They also contribute
to College, Faculty and program excellence by collaborating on a variety of initiatives such as new program
development, applied research and alternative delivery strategies.

Specific Responsibilities:
Ensuring that program and course curricula are current, relevant and reflective of best practices within the relevant
professional/program disciplines
Defining, evaluating and validating learning outcomes for courses and programs
Creating an effective environment for applied learning which accommodates students diverse cultural and educational
backgrounds, experiences and learning styles
Designing appropriate strategies and tools for facilitating and assessing student learning that are invitational and
reflective of best practices in teaching and learning
Developing appropriate strategies and tools to assess student performance that are consistent with the learning
outcomes of the course and address multiple learning styles
Developing multi-media materials and alternative delivery strategies, and incorporating appropriate educational
technologies into the applied learning process
Using a holistic approach, collaborate with the Centre of Indigenous Learning and Support
Ensuring that curriculum speaks to implementing Truth & Reconciliation Commissions calls to action

Qualifications:
PhD degree in Social Sciences or a related field of study. PhD Candidates may be considered if a defence date is fixed.
A minimum of five years professional experience in the community services field is required
Experience teaching and curriculum development at the post-secondary level or equivalent experience
Advanced knowledge in historical and contemporary Indigenous ways of knowing
Experience working in and with Indigenous communities in the areas of community development, social work or re-
lated fields required
Ability to work respectfully and collaboratively with First Nations/Metis/Inuit communities and organizations as well as
knowledge of the languages, cultures, and contemporary issues are required
Strong network of contacts with other academics, professionals, organizations and employers
Excellent communications and interpersonal skills
Ability to convey the conceptual and applied aspects of knowledge to a broad range of students
Committed to excellence in teaching and learning and to working within a team environment
The successful candidate must be of Indigenous ancestry (i.e. First Nations - Status and Non Status, Metis and Inuit)
The candidate must have experience delivering Indigenous knowledge to groups as well as experience communicating
across cultures and modeling and Indigenous worldview.
