Die Produktionswirtschaft im 21. Jahrhundert ist zunehmend geprgt von dynamischen und komplexen Umstrukturierungs-
prozessen. Unternehmen stehen dabei vor der Herausforderung, innovative Produkte mit immer krzeren Lebenszyklen zu kono-
misch ausgereizten Konditionen zu produzieren.

Wirtschaftsingenieure/-innen sind in der Lage komplexe Problemstellungen zu erarbeiten. Auf Grund ihrer breiten, interdisziplinren
Ausbildung bewhren sie sich an der Schnittstelle von Produktion und Management. Als Generalisten/-innen mit starker technischer
Prgung sind Wirtschaftsingenieure/-innen von der Fertigung ber das Produktionsmanagement bis hin zu General Management-

As a follow-up to a Bachelor degree in a technical subject, the part-time Master Program in Industrial Engineering & Management is
a source of in-depth knowledge and methodological competence in production engineering and management plus the necessary
competence in the main economic disciplines. The Master program provides for targeted specialization in elective modules in the
fields of production and process engineering.

The interdisciplinary character of the program is reflected in a curriculum that includes overarching practical project work and case
studies. Its international orientation is strengthened through the availability of an optional semester abroad and voluntary two-week
study tours in various cities of the world.

A strong focus is placed on promoting a high standard of independent scientific working. Students have the opportunity to de-
monstrate their scientific competence at the end of the program in the form of a Masters thesis, often written in cooperation with
a relevant company.

Das berufsbegleitende Masterstudium Wirtschaftsingenieurwesen vermittelt basierend auf einem vorangehenden technischen
Bachelorstudiengang vertiefende Kenntnisse und Methodenkompetenzen im Bereich Produktionstechnik & Management sowie die
notwendige Handlungskompetenz in den wirtschaftswissenschaftlichen Hauptdisziplinen. Das Masterstudium erlaubt eine spezifische
Vertiefung durch Wahlpflichtmodule aus den Bereichen Fertigungstechnik bzw. Verfahrenstechnik.

Die Interdisziplinaritt im Curriculum wird besonders durch fachbergreifende praxisorientierte Projekte sowie Fallstudien gefrdert.
Internationalitt im Studium wird durch ein optionales Auslandssemester bzw. durch freiwillige, 2-wchige Study-Tours in internationale

Das Themenfeld Operational Excellence an der Schnittstelle zwischen Technik und Wirtschaft greift aktuelle, oft interdisziplinre
Fragestellungen von Unternehmen unterschiedlichster Herkunft auf und erfhrt daher an der Unternehmerischen Hochschule mit
ihrem Studienangebot sowohl im technisch-naturwissenschaftlichen wie auch im wirtschafts- und sozialwissenschaftlichen Bereich

Dieses Forschungsthema verfolgt das Ziel, etablierte Anstze der Unternehmen zur Frderung der Operational Excellence zu erheben und
somit die Transparenz der vorhandenen Methoden zu frdern und fr andere Unternehmen zu erschlieen. Der Fokus liegt auf der Analyse
kritischer Erfolgsfaktoren sowie mglicher Entwicklungspotenziale hin zu integrativen, ganzheitlichen Produktionssystemen. Besonderes
Augenmerk finden mgliche Hindernisse in der Umsetzung, um auch dafr geeignete Lsungsstrategien zu entwickeln.

INDUSTRIE 4.0 READINESS

Industrie 4.0 Readiness gilt als die aktuelle Herausforderung fr nachhaltige Entwicklung und internationale Wettbewerbsfhigkeit von
Unternehmen. Ein interdisziplinres Team aus Techniker/-innen, Wirtschaftsingenieuren/-innen und Wirtschaftswissenschaftern/-innen hat
es sich zum Ziel gesetzt, gemeinsam mit Partnern aus der Wirtschaft zukunftstrchtige und nachhaltige Systeme zu entwickeln, die nicht
nur fr die Industrie, sondern auch fr Klein- und mittelstndische Unternehmen Anwendung finden. Digitalisierung der Industrie, Internet
of Things und Big Data sollen hier nur exemplarisch fr die groe Bandbreite des Forschungsbereiches genannt werden.

PASSUNGSORIENTIERTE MITARBEITERENTWICKLUNG
Dieser Forschungsschwerpunkt beschftigt sich mit der Frage, wie High Performers durch Ideal Fit-orientierte Prinzipien zu Persnlich-
keiten mit wirksamem Fhrungsverhalten entwickelt werden knnen. Der Fokus der Studie liegt auf der Entwicklung eines praxisrelevanten
und ganzheitlichen Passungsmodells. Auerdem sollen Handlungsempfehlungen fr den Umgang mit High Performers sowie Aussagen ber
die Passung der eigenen Fhrungskrfte und Mitarbeiter/-innen im Unternehmen abgeleitet werden.

LEAN PRODUCTION UND KATA IN KMUs

Kleine und mittelstndische Unternehmen verfgen oft nicht ber dieselben Ressourcen und Mglichkeiten wie groe Konzerne. Bestimmte
Methoden der Lean Production lassen sich deshalb nur bedingt bertragen. Das Forscherteam des MCI setzt sich daher mit den Mglich-
keiten des Einsatzes von etablierten Methoden zur kontinuierlichen Weiterentwicklung auch in kleineren Unternehmen in unterschiedlichen
Branchen auseinander. Dabei werden insbesondere auch die oft wenig beachteten Basisfaktoren des Mitarbeitercoachings beleuchtet.

OPEX IN PROCESS INDUSTRIES

The aim of this topic is to investigate applied improvement methods in the process industry and to show best practice
methods of OPEX in use. Critical success factors and the need for a holistic production system are discussed in detail.
Possible failures and obstacles in practice are of particular interest and will be analyzed in depth.

INDUSTRY 4.0 READINESS

Everybody is talking about the internet of things and industry 4.0 nowadays. Unfortunately, concrete standards,
systems and methods are still lacking and many small companies are unable to see the benefits of these upcoming
trends. The interdisciplinary team in this research area is working on a framework for SMEs to show how valuable
industry 4.0 can be even for smaller companies. Our partners will receive an overview of their 4.0-readiness.

FIT ORIENTED EMPLOYEE DEVELOPMENT

The question is how high performers/potentials can be developed towards sustainable leadership practice through
ideal fit-oriented principles. The focus is on the development of a practice-oriented and holistic fit model. The goal
is to produce recommendations for dealing with high performers and to derive a picture of the fit of management
in the company.

LEAN PRODUCTION AND KATA IN SMES

Lean Production is widely applied in big companies. But smaller companies especially often do not have the know-
ledge and workforce to implement such methods. In this OPEX project, the goal is to ascertain whether methods
of lean production are helpful in various industries and to point out the importance of leadership and elements of
Toyotas KATA for the continuous improvement of processes in SMEs.

The Master program in Industrial Engineering & Management is open to graduates of technical Bachelor programs and graduates of
relevant post-secondary technical and natural science courses (i.e. degrees in technical engineering or natural-scientific engineering
programs).

This Master program is an ideal follow-on from such Bachelor programs as Industrial Engineering & Management, Biotechnology, Food
& Bioresource Technologies, Environmental Engineering, Process & Energy Engineering, and Mechatronics. Admission will also be
considered for graduates of study programs whose curricula offer an adequate level of technical content such as Production Enginee-
ring, Automation Technology, Mechanical Engineering, Materials Engineering, Construction Engineering and Electrical Engineering.

Besides, alumni of degree programmes with curricula including technological and economic contents to a certain extent will be

The online entrance exam is designed to assess the applicants fit in the target group and covers the following fields:
General engineering (weighting 50%)
Production management and operational excellence (weighting 25%)
Business administration (weighting 25%)

Interview 50%
The interview gives applicants an opportunity to make a personal presentation, discuss their CVs and explain their educational
and professional goals

Applicants are informed as soon as possible regarding their admission. Applicants who are not admitted due to the limited number
of places are put on a waiting list and can if they are still interested be admitted if a place becomes available.

The admissions process is required each year. Even if the applicant was offered a place or put on the waiting list in a previous year,
preferential consideration of applicants is not possible.

ZULASSUNGSVORAUSSETZUNGEN
Zum Masterstudiengang Wirtschaftsingenieurwesen sind Absolventen/-innen technischer Bachelorstudiengnge sowie Absolventen/
-innen von fachnahen, technisch-naturwissenschaftlichen Bildungseinrichtungen zugelassen (z.B. akademische Abschlsse in inge-
nieurwissenschaftlich-technischer oder naturwissenschaftlich-technischer Ausrichtung).

Dieser Masterstudiengang eignet sich als konsekutiv aufbauender Studiengang beispielsweise fr die Bachelorstudiengnge Wirt-
schaftsingenieurwesen sowie Biotechnologie, Lebensmittel- & Rohstofftechnologie, Umwelt-, Verfahrens- & Energietechnik und
Mechatronik. Darber hinaus werden Absolventen/-innen von Studiengngen zugelassen, deren Studienplan ein bestimmtes Ausma
an technischen Inhalten aufweist, wie beispielsweise die Studiengnge Fertigungstechnik, Automatisierungstechnik, Produktions-
technik, Maschinenbau, Werkstofftechnik, Bautechnik und Elektrotechnik.

Darber hinaus werden Absolventen/-innen von Studiengngen zugelassen, deren Studienplan ein bestimmtes Ausma an techni-
schen und wirtschaftlichen Inhalten aufweist.

Bewerbungen um die Aufnahme in ein Studium sind online mittels standardisiertem Bewerbungsbogen und unter Beifgung der

grund der begrenzten Studienpltze empfohlen!

Der schriftliche Eignungstest berprft die Zielgruppeneignung der Bewerber/-innen und umfasst folgende Bereiche:

Die Bewerber/-innen werden ehestmglich ber ihre Aufnahme verstndigt. Bewerber/-innen, die wegen Platzmangel nicht auf-
genommen werden knnen, werden in eine Warteliste aufgenommen und knnen sofern weiter Interesse an einem Studienplatz
besteht im Falle frei werdender Studienpltze nachrcken.

Fr jeden Studienbeginn ist ein neues Aufnahmeverfahren erforderlich. Eine bevorzugte Bercksichtigung von Bewerber/-innen aus

Internationalitt bildet eine wesentliche Komponente dieses Masterstudiums und spiegelt sich in der Zusammensetzung der Leh-
renden & Studierenden, des Studienplans und der zu bearbeitenden Projekte wider. Besonderes Augenmerk gilt der erstklassigen
Beherrschung der englischen Sprache. Das Studium bietet im 3. Semester ein eigenes Internationales Semester, welches im Ausland
an einer der zahlreichen MCI Partneruniversitten unter Anrechnung der dort erbrachten Leistungen oder alternativ in englischer
Sprache am MCI gemeinsam mit Incoming Studierenden aus aller Welt absolviert werden kann. Weiters gibt es die Mglichkeit, an

student body, and in the curriculum and projects. There is a strong focus on acquiring an excellent command of
English. The third semester of the program is the International Semester: Students can choose between spending
an English-language semester at the MCI with incoming students from all over the world or studying at one of the
MCIs many partner universities abroad and transferring the credits obtained there to the MCI. Students are also
