Editor's Note: Yig, of course, is one of the Great Old Ones created by
horror writer H. P. Lovecraft in a ghost-written tale for Zelia Bishop
called "The Curse of Yig" and published in Weird Tales in November,
1929. Yig is the Father of Serpents and I recently found the following
poems dedicated to Him on the website Allpoetry. So here is this
unauthorized collection of verses.
This is a brief collection of all the YIG-related verses that can now be
found on the ever-expanding website Allpoetry. From all stripes and
hues had come the Ophidians with their resounding Songs of Praise
and Terror! HEAR THESE WORDS.
One poem that should be included but is not is Ron Shiflet's "In
Praise of Yig." It was published in Dark Legacy: The Poetry, edited
by Ran Cartwright.
By the way, the term "Yig and Yag" has been taken by some to
mean "good and evil."

Allen Mackey
