Describe the instructional activities that will occur PRIOR to the SRT activity and how you will introduce
the SRT activity.
The students will have already learned the concepts before doing the Socrative assessment. They will have
already been provided lessons, games, and notes on addition and subtraction in two-step word problems and
with unknowns.
Describe the purpose of the SRT activity (check all that apply):
Assess prior knowledge Anticipatory set (Create interest in a topic) To illuminate common
misconceptions Formative assessment of content knowledge (for purpose of differentiation and
mastery for ALL students) Summative assessment of content knowledge Test preparation

Student Response and Assessment Tools
The lesson will be student-paced but answering the questions themselves should only take about 15
minutes. They can use a pencil and scratch paper to do the math on, but, other than that, just the iPad are the
materials that the students need. The teacher will be walking around and assisting students as needed.

Type of questions/prompts used in this activity (check all that apply):

Multiple choice Multiple select True/False Yes/No
Short open-ended response or fill-in the blank Longer open-ended response

If you are unable to provide a working sample of your questions, please list them below (8-10):
Right/Wrong answers: Will there be right/wrong answers to these questions?
Yes No
Mixed (Some will have correct answers, other will not.)

Immediate corrective feedback: Will you pre-select correct answers to some of all of the questions and
display correct response to the class after the SRT activity?
Yes
No
Why or why not?
This lesson is designed to be a formative assessment. Not only will the teacher be checking for
understanding, but the students will be able to check their understanding as well. After the class has finished
the assessment, there will be a class discussion and review for commonly missed questions. Groups and
activities will be formed based on questions missed.

Describe what will happen AFTER the SRT activity?

The class will have a discussion on the commonly missed questions first. If a student got the question right
they can explain how they got their answer. The teacher will have activities prepared for the different areas
addressed in the lesson. The class will be split into groups to work on activities based on the questions they
struggled with.

How will the data be used?

This activity is not a grade. For the students, the activity will allow them to see what they are understanding.
The teacher will be able to see this as well as know what groups to put the students in. This will allow for the
teacher to work with each group specifically on what they are struggling with. This will also let the teacher
know if the whole class needs to review a certain topic.

Describe your personal learning goal for this activity.

The goal of this activity is to have students realize the areas in which they are still struggling and to allow for
them to work in groups to gain understanding of the concept. With working in groups (and with the teacher)
the students will see where they are struggling, why they are struggling, and what they can do to fix it.
