1.0 OBJECTIVE :
To lay down the procedure for daily verification of all weighing balance in Cephalosporin
section store.
2.0 SCOPE :
This SOP is applicable for Store Cephalosporin for verification of all weighing
Balance, at Brawn Laboratories Ltd., Faridabad.

3.0 RESPONSIBILITY :
Stores Supervisors

5.0 PROCEDURE :
5.1 Select the standard calibrated weights for various balances based on the capacity and
operating range of the balance as mentioned in 5.7 and check the calibration status.
5.2 Before verification the balance, clean the weighing platforms and pans with dry mop.
Ensure that the balance rests evenly, which can be ensured with the help of sprit level.
5.3 Adjust the balance to zero.
5.4 Place the calibrated standard weight one by one on the weighing platform/pans at the *
marked places shown in the following diagram and check the readings. The different should not

be more then specified least count. If it is stable at all working points record the point E
observation in annexure.

5.5 If it conforms to acceptance criteria, affix the status label O.K with date.
5.6 Always use standard weights and balance, which are certified by Weights and Measures
department.
5.7 Selection of Standard Weights for various balances.
