Ref: Recommendation Letter for Dr. Larry Medwetsky
Dr. Larry Medwetsky has asked me to write a letter of recommendation in
support of his application for tenure award | am very happy to so do. lam
focusing on the area of his service contributions to the faculty governance, School
of the Education, Business and Human Services (SEBHS) and the University in
general.
I started working very closing with Dr. Medwetsky in 2015 when both us were
serving on the Grievance committee and also since 2016 when he became the
chair of his department. Both of us attend SEBHS chair biweekly meetings and
University Academic council meetings.
Dr. Medwetsky is one of the most enthusiasts, dedicated and motivated faculty |
know since my 29 years of service to this university. During his service at the
grievance committee, the committee handled a very serious case and also
reviewed and made major changes on the grievance processes and procedures.
The result of the changes is now included on the faculty guidelines. The changes
made the process for grievance procedure more effective and efficient. Although,
he was not the chair of the committee, his contributions and works on this
committee were more that of the chair. The committee benefited greatly to his
ideas and contributions. The committee was very disappointed when he stepped
down from the committee to serve on the University senate. Similarly, his
contributions to the SEBHS and academic council meetings cannot be
overemphasized. Dr. Medwetsky is an honest, respectful, friendly and outspoken

discussion. He represents his students and department very well in those
academic chair and directors’ meetings. He numerous services are indications of
his passion, dedication to his students, department, university in general and
community beyond.
| will like to opportunity to comment on Dr. Medwetsky ability to improve his ASL
skill. Although, it is very difficult for most people to learn a new language within a
short period of time even for some years, he has made great effort to learn and to.
improve his ASL skill despite odds and | believe he will continue this effort in the
future till he achieves proficiency and beyond. He makes every effort to sign by
himself and watches attentively to others ASL communication in order to improve
his receptive skill. He is not ashamed to ask for help or for correction. | see him
around in many camp events and | have noticed a big improvement in his ASL
communication skill from the first time I met him to present. The key to success is
motivation, willingness and passionate to learn, and see all that in him. We need
people like him here to support our students and the university as well as the
community out there.
Therefore, | recommended him for tenure award with confidence and without
reservation.
Thanks.
