Topic: greetings, the English alphabet, colours, toys, numbers 1-10
Time: 50 minutes
Teaching techniques: conversation, explanation, exercises, games, songs.
Teaching aids: blackboard, textbook, laptop, cd, flashcards.
Skills: reading, speaking, listening and writing.
Class management: the roles of the teacher: Controller, Assessor, Organiser, Prompter,
Participant, Resource, Tutor, Investigator. Pupils groupings: individual work, pair work.

CLASS DESCRIPTION
Level: Beginner
The pupils are between the ages of 8-9, both boys and girls and they are in the third year of
English studying.

TIMETABLE FIT
The class takes place on Friday from 8.00 to 8.50. The pupils are generally enthusiastic. The
pupils have 1 English class per week.

AIMS:
1. To practice the greetings by using them in short dialogues related to oneself.
2. To practice introducing oneself and a friend.
3. To revise the names of the colours.
4. To pronounce correctly the letters of the alphabet.
5. To say the numbers 1 to 10.

T writes the date on the blackboard and the
title Revision and pupils write down in their
notebooks.
Then, T asks pupils to rememer the greetings
they heard and practice and try to write down
one of them. One pupil comes to the
blackboard and write one greeting. T corrects
the mistakes and then asks the pupil to write
Blackboard TS down the greeting in their notebooks.

to remember the question we use when we
want to find out the name of a person and also
the answer that we will receive; T asks pupils
to remember what we say after we found the
name of that person and also the greeting that
we use at the end of a conversation.
Individual pupils come to the blackboard to
write the answer, T checks the answers and

then tells the pupils to write the answers in
their notebooks.
This way, pupils have in their notebooks an
example of a short dialogue.
T explains that when we want to present a
friend to somebody we have to use the
structure This is +the name of the friend and T
gives an example. T writes the structure and
the example on the blackboard and pupils
TS write down in their notebooks. T asks pupils

S-S to imagine that T has a friend with her and the
friends name is Corina. Then, T points to the
imainary friend and says: This is my friend,
Corina.
After that, T asks pupils to work in pairs and
each pupils to introduce his/her deskmate.
T asks pupils if they remember colours and
tells them that they are going to revise
colours. T shows to the pupils a set of
flashcards containing the colours and another
set containg the name of the colours.
T sticks the two sets of flashcards on the
Blackboard TS

column with the colours and one column with
the name of the colours). T asks pupils to red
the name of the colours and match them with
the colours. Individual pupils read the names
of the colours and comes to the blackboard to
match the items in the two columns.

containing an animation related to the
alphabet and to be very attentive at the

POSSIBLE PROBLEMS SOLUTIONS
Some pupils may be too shy to answer even though T encourages them to answer even though they
they know the answers. are not sure of their answer.
Some pupils may be very distracted from the T will ask them to take part in the activity and
activities. offer their own examples or T will ask them to
act out short dialogues.

Additional Possibilities
1. T encourages pupils to take part in similar dialogues using all the new knowledge.
2. T organizes different games in which the pupils have to point to different objects in the
class that have the colour indicated by the T.
3. T asks pupils to point to different objects in the class whose name begin with one of the
letters of the alphabet pronounced by the T.
