How to clean your Trumpet.

Here we are going to show you step by step how to properly clean your trumpet. Note, you will
need 15- 25 minutes to complete the cleaning process.

Materials

Mouth piece brush (small brush)


Valve brush (larger brush)
Pipe snake brush
Cleaning cloth
Slide grease
Trumpet valve oil
Bath tub
Warm water

Dish soap

Steps

1. Disassembling your Trumpet


I. Start by removing your mouthpiece
** If inserted, if not please ignore**
II. Then remove your third valve slide
III. Followed by removing your first valve slide
IV. Then remove the tuning slide
V. Now you can remove your valves stems
VI. Finally, you can remove the valve caps

At the end of Step 1 you should have something


like this laying in front of you.

2. Fill bath tub with enough water to fully immerse your trumpet
3. Add soap to the water
4. Set your trumpet in the water and let it soak for 2 minutes in the soapy water
5. Clean your trumpet
I. Start by taking your pipe snake with the end with the
smaller brush and insert it into the lead pipe, scrub until no
debris falls out.
II. After that switch, your snake to the opposite side and insert
the larger end into the bell and scrub.
III. Once that is complete, take your valve brush and scrub
each individual valve casing **BE SURE NOT TO
TOUCH THE METAL END TO THE VALVE CASING
AS IT COULD CAUSE DAMAGE TO THE CASING**
IV. Now you can rinse your trumpet with warm water and set
it to dry.
6. Now to clean your valves
I. Take your valve brush and carefully insert it through each hole
of the valve **MAKE SURE NOT TO GET THE WHOLE
VALVE WET**
II. Repeat until each valve is clean.
III. Now set to dry.
7. After trumpet is clean grease slides
I. Grab some grease and rub it all over the slide
II. Now insert the slides into the trumpet.

8. Oil your slide


I. Take some oil and add a few drops to each valve
II. Then take your valve and insert them in your trumpet
III. Once you have inserted your valve twist each valve until
a clicking is heard. This insures the valve is in the
correct position and in turn has proper air flow.

Note: Once you are finished you should have the same trumpet to from
which you started with.
