or Courier New, 12 point). Include page numbers. Do not use sheet protectors. Retain a
copy for your records.

YOUR FINAL REPORT SHOULD BE ORGANIZED AND CONTAIN THE SECTIONS

NOTED BELOW. Develop each section of the report. I have provided you with
some guidelines as to the information to include in each section; however, you
may expand on these. (Note: You may use tabs, indexes, side headings or other
methods to organize the sections.)

1. Cover page - A cover page should be used containing the following: (Note:
Use of a different font and larger point size are permissible for the cover
page. You may also use graphics as appropriate.)
Name of Report
Class
Date of Report
Interns Name, Address, Daytime Phone Number, and Email Address
Sponsors Name

2. Table of Contents

3. General Information
Describe the sponsors law firm (type, size, specialty, etc.) Include the name(s) of
the supervisor(s) that was/were involved in your internship training.

4. Evaluation of Sponsor
Evaluate your sponsor (training, supervision, tasks given, feedback, environment,
personnel, etc.). Would you recommend the use of this sponsor for future student
interns? Explain. Was the sponsor willing to be listed as a reference on your
resume? Explain why or why not? What has impressed you the most?

5. Evaluation of Internship Experience

(NOTE: THIS IS THE MOST IMPORTANT SECTION OF YOUR FINAL REPORT AND IS
WORTH THE MOST POINTS)

Evaluate your internship experience. Did the internship live up to your expectations?
Explain. What did you like the most or impressed you the most about your
internship? What did you like the least about your internship? What has been the
most difficult activity or adjustment for you?

Learning Objectives: Did you meet your learning objectives? Restate each one at
the top of a new page and thoroughly explain how they were met. What
experiences, tasks, skills, or activities did you do to accomplish each learning
objective? Be very descriptive in this section.

Which objectives were not met? Restate each one and explain in detail why they
were not met.

Significant Internship Tasks. Describe your most significant internship tasks related
to your major. Identify and describe new skills learned. These do not have to be
related to your learning objectives as noted above.

If you used your current place of employment for your internship, complete
this item: Explain your current place of employment, your position, and current job
responsibilities. Describe in detail the added learning/new responsibilities (related to
your major) experienced over and beyond your current tasks and duties.

6. Internship Work Product

Include no more than three samples of documentation reflecting your best samples
of writing or drafting you produced during your internship. Keep in mind complexity,
flawlessness, length, creativity, and versatility. Briefly explain what they are and
what you did. Be sure to redact confidential information and obtain approval of
supervisor.

No writing or drafting samples? Sometimes writing samples alone are not indicative
of an interns best work. You may have been mediating consumer disputes,
screening and referring pro bono clients, or interviewing and investigating. Describe
other kinds of evidence of challenging internship work. Examples include:
Step-by-step outlines of the procedures you followed in dispute resolution,
investigation, or other major processes.
Copies of checklists you created (or followed) for interviews, client follow-up
and similar work.
Copies of forms used in complex areas of your work, particularly if you helped
create them.
A one-page narrative description of a challenging case or assignment,
outlining your involvement in it.
Testimonial letters from your supervisor and coworkers.
Single-page computer printouts (accompanied by a brief, typed explanation)
showing the templates you created, the index you wrote for a database, or
other technological improvements you implemented.

7. Self-Evaluation
Summarize your professional strengths and weaknesses. How can you improve?
Did the internship change your opinion regarding a legal career? Did it change your
opinion regarding the type of organization you would like to work in? Did it change
your opinion regarding the area of law you would like to work in? How do you plan
to utilize the skills learned in the program? Any changes to your educational goals?

8. Evaluation of Kapi`olani Community Colleges Paralegal or Legal Secretary

Program
Evaluate the Legal Education Program as a whole as it relates to adequately
preparing you for the internship and/or an entry-level position in your chosen major.
Compare classroom learning with the internship experience and evaluate its benefits.
You may list specific courses and relate it to your experience in the internship.
Include recommendations for improvement in order to better prepare a student for
the internship.
