Salient points about Mechanical Engineering Department:

***First batch started in 2011, with an intake of 60 and subsequently increased to 240.***

(A) FACULTY:
Most of the faculty are from organizations of repute like IITs, NITs ,BITS,OU and JNTU. Eight
doctorates with rich research, academic and administrative experience(few with overseas
experience) lead the young mechanical engineering students in right perspective.

(B) LABORATORIES:
Within five years of its establishment the department is well equipped with State of art
laboratories especially

(i) CAD/CAM lab with Production CNC machines , advanced softwares like CFD,
ANSYS,CREO, Master CAM etc..
(ii) Machine tools lab with precision lathe, capstan turret lathe, surface grinding
machine, shaper, slotter provide ample opportunity for students to get trained on
production oriented machines.

(C) STUDENT CENTRIC LEARNING:

Team Projects lab is the characteristic feature of the department wherein a group of
students design and fabricate a working model. Such exercise helps the students in
consolidating the concepts learnt in their theory and lab subjects. This Team projects lab
in addition to Industry oriented Mini Project and final year Project triggers student centric
learning.

(D) SPEACIAL TRAINING PROGRAMS :

Apart from regular laboratory instruction special training programs on

ANSYS
CREO
Master CAM
CFD

are regularly conducted to students at various stages of their course of study.

(E) STUDENT ACTIVITIES:
(i) Mechanical Engineering Students Association: MEKNOVATES, Mechanical
engineering students association is active in conducting
Design competitions
Technical paper contest
Technical quiz,
Live model contest,
Society outreach activities like SWACH BHARATH and helping the school
children etc.. on regular basis.
(ii) A half yearly technical magazine YANTRAVIEW is brought out by the students.
(iii) Students also maintain a special notice board STUDENT CORNER which is a
platform for the technical stuff collected by enthusiastic students.
(iv) SAE club :

Students registered under SAE club participate in national events related to

automobiles like GOKART,GOLFKART, BAJHA. It has become a regular feature in the
college wherein senior students guide the juniors by sharing their experiences and
offering technical help wherever necessary

(F) Industry Exposure

Guest lectures by experts from organizations like DRDL, BHEL etc.. and

Industrial visits to NFC, Thermal power stations like KTPS,RTPS and local industries like
Sonali castings, BHEL etc..and Industry oriented Mini Project shall expose the students to
industry experts, environment and culture.

(G) Entrepreneurial development( EDC) Cell :

DST funded EDC cell regularly conduct entrepreneurial development programs to
students for promoting entrepreneurial culture.
