In the Sermon on the Mount Jesus said: You have heard that it was said: Do not commit adultery.
But I say to you that everyone who looks at a woman lustfully has already committed adultery with her in
his heart. And if thy right eye offend thee, pluck it out and throw it away, because it is better for thee that
one of thy members should perish, than that your whole body be thrown into hell.
And if your right hand causes you to sin, cut it off and throw it away, because it is better for thee that one
of thy members should perish than that your whole body go into hell.
It has been said, 'Whoever divorces his wife must give her a certificate of divorce. But I say to you that
everyone who divorces his wife, except for marital unfaithfulness, he made his wife commit adultery; and
whoever marries a divorced woman commits adultery.
