As a Master of Science student in Geotechnical Engineering at the University of Maryland, I have been
searching extensively for the kind of exciting opportunities ARUP can offer. I believe I have the engineering
skills, experiences and attention to detail required for the Graduate Geotechnical Engineering position in your
New York office.

This summer, as an intern with ECS Mid-Atlantic (Chantilly Office), I was initially tasked with construction
material supervision work which included concrete testing and soil backfilling tasks. Due to my success with
accomplishing these tasks, I supervised the support of excavation, underpinning and installation of Caissons.
Later, in my internship I also monitored in-situ soil testing consisting of pressuremeter, and Standard
Penetration Tests. Im confident that my recent internship experience will allow me to excel in project like
No 7 line extensions, New York as a geotechnical engineer.

I am doing research on stabilization of Baltimore Harbour dredge sediments using pond fines and quarry fines
so as to use the mixture for highway embankment. We are studying the leachate from our mixtures so as to
know the environmental impact of our material at the same time, working on slope stabilization of the
embankment using FLAC. At ARUP, I could contribute significantly due to my strong quantitative skills and
diverse experience while also learning more about the Geotechnical Engineering.

I completed an internship at ONGC where I performed various laboratory tests including hydrometer analysis,
Atterberg limit tests and Triaxial tests. I successfully prepared the geotechnical soil investigation report
including the subsurface profiling to the depths of 100+ meters using various in-situ and laboratory tests data.
I also analyzed the penetration process of spudcan foundations subjected to vertical loading using PLAXIS
2D. My past internship experiences and academic knowledge in geotechnical engineering will definitely be
an asset to ARUP for project like Transbay Transit Center, San Francisco.
