Lesson idea implementation: As you address the standards, what will students and teachers do? How will
the project be introduced? How long will it take to complete? How will student learning be assessed? How will
the final product be used to inform/differentiate learning? How will you extend the student learning to a
higher learning level? How will you conclude the lesson? How will you provide feedback to students about
their work? MINIMUM 2 paragraph overview.

To introduce this lesson the teacher will have the students remember/ think of their best vacation ever!
Then, students will watch the Brain Pop video on concept mapping. Then they will think back to their favorite
spring break trip/ summer vacation tip, and create their own concept map of their experiences, on the
computer. The teacher will provide a template for the students. It will look similar to the one in the Brain Pop
video. This template will help guide them along their mapping. After the student has filled out the map, and
linked the bubbles with linking words and phrases, each student will upload their map on to the class blog. After
for homework each student much read one of their peers map and make a comment on it, on the blog. If a
student has limited or no computer access at home then the teacher will print out a students map and put it in
the students folder to take home with them to read and write a comment on the paper. This homework will
complete the lesson.

The students learning of the maps will be assessed by the homework and their ability to read an
understand the concept maps. This project is able to help the students grow and understand the computer
(typing, and publishing) also be able to publish their work. The teacher will provide students with feedback by
commenting on each students map on the blog. This lesson would take about an hour to thirty minutes class
time as well as about ten to twenty minutes homework time.
