is aimed at providing information and updates to our Club members and homeowners.
Come summertime, Tagaytay Highlands is the best option to escape the heat in
Manila. When temperature rises in the metro, it is time to pack your bags and take
that trip out of town. Most people will crowd the beach, thats for sure. But here in
Tagaytay Highlands, we have a holistic approach to your family vacation. Nourish the
body and the soul.

As we mark the end of Lent with a joyous Easter celebration, more and more families
would come home for their annual southern retreat. We thank our members who
spent their Holy Week at the Holy Family Chapel in our annual recollection with
Fr. Robert Manansala, OFM. In Tagaytay Highlands, appreciate and find more
meaning in your family time, in being together, and in commune with God.

Every season, it is also our duty to provide you with the best vacation experience. We
have opened several new facilities for the young and active at The Sports Center. The
pools are clean and cool. The golf course is at its best and prepared for the holidays.
Get ready for a fantastic view in your early morning jog or leisure afternoon walks.

I hope you will enjoy whats in store for you. Take time to explore the estate, taste the
wonderful dishes and create wonderful memories with your family. Your happiness
is our happiness. With sunny skies and cool mountain breeze, come to the warmth of
your home as we open the gates this summer.

JERRY C. TIU
CLUB PRESIDENT

Tagaytay Highlands greatly values the quality of time. We understand how

important it is to create strong bonds with the people that surround you. That is
why this summer, we continue to provide activities that are excellently fitting for
families and group of friends.

As mentioned before, 2017 promises opening of new facilities and we have started
with our committed word. The Aerial View officially opened on April 13, during
Holy Week. Its flexible design caters to adventurous groups with all the heights and
tests of the courses. Perfect for adventurous families and even for active children.
There is no need to fret so much as no one takes on the courses without safety
measures such as helmets and harnesses. Include our Aerial Walk in your checklist
this summer and have a selfie!

In this issue, you also get a glimpse of the best parts of our grandest golf
tournament, Belle 2017, plus our Club and Chapel events that have sprung during
the first quarter of the year. Proper observation of the Holy Week were conducted
in the Holy Family Chapel that served as a sanctuary for prayer and confession and
merriment for the Saviors resurrection on Easter. Maintain your summer body with
High Intensity Interval Training and Aerobic Dances offered at the Sports Center
while indulging in the variety of food choices in our food outlets.

TRIBUTE TO THE GREAT
MASTERS OF LANDSCAPES

F
rom the Dutch word landschap or a patch of cultivated ground, landscape paintings tend to showcase
portrayals of the great horizon. Outdoor scenes such as pastures, meadows, trees, mountains, rivers or lakes,
valleys, shores, and estuaries are some of the elements of a landscape painting. Even the sky, cloud formations
and weather conditions may also be the focal point in a landscape composition. Human figures and animals on a
suspended tableau, however, are included as staffage or as a minor element in the perspective.

14 | HIGHLANDS VIEW
HIGHLANDS VIEW | 15
...a must for proud
landowners in the
drawing room.

This was established as a genre as early as the

15th century. Venetian landscapes by Canaletto
are often architectural. It was the Dutch Realist
artists of the 17 th century that began to take
outdoor-ish landscape paintings quite seriously.

In Britain, the genre reached its peak in the 19th

century. The demand for such painting was due
to the appreciation and cultivation of country
estates. Noble families would prefer to live in
their orderly country houses than in the filth of
city centers.

Aristocratic families would demand for

topographical pictures of their land. It is a must
for proud landowners to have a golden framed
painting of the estate in the drawing room.

Tagaytay Highlands scenic beauty is comparable

to these masterpieces. From the ridge it is
located, the distance between the earth and sky
seems remarkably nominal. As seen in the skies
of Joseph Mallord William Turner, the Highlands
Golf Club bursts with late afternoon hues.
Majestic elevations surround the property similar
to peaks in Fredrick Edwin Churchs paintings.

Rolling terrains of varying trees and foliage

encloses the golf estate as seen in the grandeur
and vastness of JR Cozens landscape. Silver-
lined clouds flutter and whorl depending on the
wind covering rays of the sun like El Grecos.
And, beyond the natural compendium of sights,
countrified structures break the verdant setting
like those of a Rembrandt.

The view is always breathtaking. Everything is

serenely beautiful. This is paradise where every
bit of nature and every color of the sky is Gods
creative masterpiece we call our home.

The Good Deed

On December 28, almost noon time, a Golforce

maintenance staff, who was cutting greens, fell in the
creek at Hole#8 of Highlands Golf. He ended up with the
mover crushing on top of his body. Mr. Romualdez was
around the area that time. While his caddie Gloria Santilis
ran to ask for help, Mr. Romualdez did not hesitate to
lend a hand and was the first to give assistance. He was
followed by Mr. Jong Wha Kim. They both went into the
water and carried the equipment away from the staffs
body. The security officer and other caddies then came
Mr. Benjamin Philip Romualdez with Tagaytay Highlands Founder for assistance. They took the injured staff to the clinic
Willy Ocier and Club President Jerry Tiu and was given proper care after the incident.
Thank you Club Member Benjamin Philip Romualdez for this heroic deed. A member since 1999 and a proud husband
of Tagaytay Highlands Ladies Team Captain Ma. Alexandra Sandy Prieto Romualdez.
