Informational Tasks

1- Look more closely at the instructions that the teacher gives while
introducing the learning centers:
Write the sentences of the instructions that the teacher gives.
Students, now go sit on the carpet and dont make noise

Write your own instructions for one of your own lesson plans.
Come on lets march to the carpet together, march march march Now sit down on
your places, is it nice to talk while the teacher is talking and explaining the lesson? So
what should we do?

2- Describe the purpose of diagnostic assessment.

A) Identify the diagnostic tests the teacher uses in your TP placement.


These might be check lists, written observations. Photograph blank
diagnostics, scan, print and or upload to your e-portfolio.

My MST is using the checklists to assess students learning. She observes the
students while doing the activities and she put tick beside their names e.g. if the
child can count till 3 she puts tick beside his name and if he doesnt recognize the
written number she puts x.

B) Look over the diagnostics again and identify which diagnostics are
norm referenced, criterion referenced, comparison of students ability,
comparison of student progress.

3- Classroom Management

1. Describe two times when your classroom management was successful.


Describe the situation, learning objective and what the students were
doing. Why was your management successful?

Using punch it for a surprise reward system was successful and made my
lesson go smoothly because I was rewarding the students at the end of the
day which encouraged them to behave and follow the rules because in this
reward system I kept the students curious about the reward that they will get
because when they punch the cups they see the picture of their reward. The
second thing was when I made my own rules for the classroom because my
MST had a lot of rules and children were not following any of her rules
because they were a lot and they cant understand what they are allowed to
do and what they cant do. When I made four rules only I was able to discuss
the rules in the circle time or when I see one of the students is misbehaving
and they understood what they have to do and what they are not allowed to
do.

2. Describe something you would like to improve about your classroom


management (using routines, giving instructions, dealing with disruptive
behavior, managing groups,) Give suggestions (or talk to your MST or
MCT) to improve your classroom management.

When I will teach next time I will give clear instructions about the activities
because when I taught sound /a/ lesson, I didnt give the students clear
instructions about the literacy activity when the students were required to cut
the hats and to trace the words then to color the pictures but the students were
sitting and they didnt know what to do first and that wasted the activity time
because I had to explain what they are required to do again.
