Question 1.

A drug manufacturer produces two products X1 and X2. X1 needs 2 hours on


machine A and 2 hours on machine B. X2 needs 3 hours on machine A and 1 hour on
machine B. If machine A can run for a maximum of 12 hours per day and B for 8
hours per day and profits from X1 and X2 are Rs. 4 and Rs. 5 per unit respectively,
find out how many units per day be produced to have maximum profit. Use
graphical method.

Maximise Z = 2x + 5y, Solve graphically.

Question 3.
A manufacturer can produce 2 commodities X and Y. Profits per units of X and Y are
Rs.4 and Rs. 3 respectively. Certain inputs are available to him only in limited
quantities. He has only 9 units of machines, 8 units of storage and 6 units of skilled
labour. A unit of X requires a unit each of machine and skilled labour and 2 units of
storage. A unit of Y requires a unit each of storage and skilled labour and 3.5 units of
machine. How much of X and Y should be produced to maximise profit? Solve by
graphical method.

Question 4.
Schedule the training lectures on 5 working days of the week so that the number
of students unable to attend is kept the minimum. The details are given as
follows: (This is a minimisation problem as we want to minimise the no. of
students who are absent. The matrix gives the no. of students who are absent).
