It is my pleasure to be able to submit my application for a student placement at . My

goals and interests fall into the field of rehab and prevention as I look to further my knowledge for a
future career.

In 2015 I was able to complete my diploma program in Fitness and Health Promotion at Niagara
College in Welland. During the two years in this program I realized the unending amazement within
the body and how each part worked so intricately. Classes in anatomy, physiology and wellness
increased my knowledge of all aspects of the body with assessment skills developed in fitness
assessment. During my studies I was also able to successfully balance school and work in a stress
free manner, developing good time management skills that can be an asset to this position.

During my placement at Generations Sport and Spine Physiotherapy I was able to learn how to talk
to clients in a clear and professional manner while at the same time educating them. My
responsibilities consisted of bring clients to their tables and observing their session. After the
session I was able to successfully perform further treatment with IFC and muscle contraction
therapy. These responsibilities taught me new skills not taught in the classroom. I was also able to
ask questions based on material currently taught throughout my classes and brought the classroom
to the real world which increased my interest in the rehab field. My second placement took place at
White Oaks Resort and Spa where I shadowed the personal trainers throughout their shifts and
helped with developing sport specific fitness programs. The main focus was working with kids and
completing their sport specific fitness goals. This was at time challenging but I learned patience and
the ability to control a group. The skills I learned from these placements are valuable resources for
this position.

Most recently I was able to experience my first involvement within the rehabilitation field. My time
at Cambridge Cardiac Rehab Centre was astonishing. My days were full of client interaction,
learning the communication skills needed to involve all clients in the exercise class insuring client
satisfaction. During the times there were no exercise classes, I was able to independently create
programs within the guidelines of the centre. This placement taught me to critically think, as well
to answer questions in a clear and concise manner.

Attached is my resume for your review. Please feel free to contact me with any questions via email
or phone. Thank you for your time and consideration.

Sincerely,

Trevor Sikkema
