Jade

White jade is the true money of Creation, with roots in the Old Realm. It was used in the Order-Conferring Trade
Pattern to stabilize the world against the Wyld.
Because it is in some ways the bedrock of Creation and most of it is harvested at the mountain at the center of the
world, no part of Creation is so far away from the source as to increase the cost of acquiring it. In this way, it has
superior value as currency than, say, red jade, which is more common in the south and more expensive and difficult to
acquire in the north.
From the core book, Panoply chapter, it's very clear that a mina of jade - roughly one pound - is worth a Resources 3
purchase, and that a talent of jade - that is, 64 minae - is worth a Resources 4 purchase. That factor of 64 is the basis
for this system.

Jade Table
one talent = 8 bars = 64 minae = 128 shekels = 1024 obols
one bar = 8 minae = 16 shekels = 128 obols
one mina = 2 shekels = 16 obols = 64 bits
one shekel = 8 obols = 32 bits
one obol = 4 bits

Varying Values - The Colors of Jade

Each color of jade is worth roughly the same, most of the time. White jade is worth about double in the Wyld, while the
other elemental jades are worth double in their opposite direction. Underworld jade is probably worth double on the
Blessed Isle. Yellow jade is fantastically rare and tends to be worth however much the current owner wants to ask for
it, but a decent conversion would be one obol of yellow jade for one talent of normal jade.
Scrip
Plain jade is just worth too much for the tinier purchases the commoners of the Realm need to make regularly, so for
low incomes, jade scrip is also an option.

Scrip Table
one koku = 8 quian = 16 siu = 128 yen
one quian = 2 siu = 16 yen
one siu = 8 yen

Silver
The Guild popularized the use of silver in place of jade as the currency of the threshold. A given mass of silver is worth
roughly one fifth an equivalent mass of jade.
