DEFINITION OF THE TOPIC:

3.1 PROJECT CONTEXT

In the modern generations, the population grew up a lot there are many tourist or travelers
goes to every country they want. Some are journalist, traveling the other country to write about
it, and some are persons with a job assigned to other country. Aside from that two top ten why
people love traveling these are celebrating, challenging yourself, learning purposes, expanding
perspective, getting in touch with yourself, appreciating life, building and strengthening
relationships, having adventure, escaping bad experiences, and for relaxation.

Hotel reservation can save a room for the tourist or traveler. The tourist will find and
choose the desired hotel with a room fits to his or her needs. The tourist or travelers is the one
who can choose their desired date, number of rooms, number of beds, and the count of people
per head is counted. Then there will be booking form which the tourist or traveler must fill out.
After the information gathering the next step is payment in form of card or cash, the card is most
often use in website or application by entering the card number and cash is used for directing to
the hotel. There are hotels offering some services like reception guest that the receptionist
manages bookings and the other demands of the tourist or traveler, food offers like free meals,
hotels with resort or pools.

The ratings of a hotel are important, based on the article the proponents read the rating is
important because this will act as the power or strength of the hotel. A rating shows the level of
comfort that the tourist or traveler can encounter in the services of the hotels. The ratings are
embodied by the number of stars given by the previous tourist or travelers that stayed in

Technology plays a major role in our daily lives. It is used to perform different task that
make our life easier. Gadgets are one of the technologies that we are using today. The rate of
people that bought gadgets is increasing at a fast rate. One of the gadgets that we are using right
now is mobile phones or smartphones. Philippines is one in Asian country particularly in
southeast that adopts smartphone and according to IDC (International Data Corporation)
Philippines is the fastest-growing smartphone market in ASEAN (Association of Southeast
Asian Nation). The popularity of smartphones and mobile application can be used in promoting
the tourism industry and can be also a factor in lifting the economy of a country.

The proponents will develop an application which that is capable of room reservation of
hotels. The application will be the tool that can be handy because of using smart phones. This
will help any hotel that is registered to advertise their hotel and services.

The process of hotel reservation and booking starts when the tourist will load for hotels
that he or she wants. Then he or she will pick type of room and then date of arrival and date of
departure. Next is gathering of information about the guest like name, address, contact number,
room type, number of guest, and email address. Next is the payment method it can be cash the
tourists or travelers are in the hotel the tourist can use also card at the hotel and in terms of card
for online transaction by getting card number and card password.

The advantage of the application is it can be useful tool substitute to the website. The
application also is convenient to handle because it is for android or smart phones.

Objectives of the Study

3.2.1 General Objectives

The general objective of the study is to develop a mobile application that can guide
guests in finding a hotel and make booking transaction easier.
 3.2.2 Specific Objectives

The study aims to achieve the following:

1. To create an application that manages hotel reservation easier using the

application as a substitution to a reservation in the website of the hotels.

2. To create an application that disseminates information to the guest about their

hotels especially the reservations of their rooms.

3. To create an application that provides a secure payment for online

transaction by means of verification in email.

Significance of the Study

In general, this study aims to develop an Android-based application that helps guests
to find their desired hotels.

3.3.1 Guests

-The study will help the tourists or travelers to easily find hotels available at their
locations or their planned hotels to stay on.

3.3.2 Hotels

-This study will help the hotels to disseminate information about their rooms that
can be reserved and help them to attract guests by showing the rating of each hotel.

3.3.3 Proponents

-This study is helpful to the proponents; it puts the required skills into actual and
applies the knowledge for the overall functionality of the application.

3.3.4 Future Proponents

-This study can serve as a reference of other upcoming program developer of the
android system implemented software.
 Scope and Delimitation

The mobile application is a hotel accommodation and reservation application. It can be

used to find interesting hotels that you can stay depending on your desired amount, room, or
services.

The proponents will create a website that can be the administrator for monitoring the
hotels registering and approving the information. Since the application is generic it means not
only specific hotel must be contained in the application, all of the hotels who wants to register
can be seen in the application. Registration for the hotels, the website will collect all necessary
information like the renting of rooms, pictures, their hotel start rating, name of hotel the costs,
and other hotels data that is needed. In the approval of hotel registration, the hotel
representative must input the data needed for signing in or signing up the user must have a
valid email address. After there is a terms and conditions that must be read and the hotel
representative must agree. Next the website will send a confirmation letter to the email
address for security reliability purposes in order to protect from fake accounts. The
cancellation of the reservation, re-booking, and refund will be seen at the My Booking
button. If the user choose and click one of the booking made, it will redirect to the hotels
website. For the maintenance the hotel needs to sign in to the applications website to update
information. Unlike the other application that it will transfer the user to the original website of
the hotel and then the user is just transacting to the website, this application holds all the
information and also carrying the payment transaction before it sends to the hotels website.
The user can view the facilities in the hotel by the pictures.

The proponents will create an application which is suitable of searching hotels and
online reservation or booking process. The application has search bar for searching cities and
provinces that has hotels. Next there is a button of checking in or checking out, a calendar will
appear then the traveler will set his or her desired date for check in and check out. Third
setting the count of room number, for every room to be reserved the guest that uses the
application will set the count of how many adult guests and children, the ages of children are
included. Then there are buttons at the bottom the add room which will add another room and
set another number of adult and children, the second is the Show Deals button if the user
clicked the button it will filter and show all hotels to the location inputted by the user.

After the application searches, it will show the list of hotels the user searches and the
picture can be clicked to view more information and types of rooms available. Browsing a lot
can burn time, so the application has button for sorting and filtering your desired room.
Filtering and sorting of hotels like number of star rating, number of guest rating, nearby the
tourist location, and facilities, filtering of price the traveler or tourist wants, it can also filter
the hotels with free meals like with free breakfast, hotels with resort, and hotels that can
accommodate occasions. There is also a go to map button so that the location of that hotels
can be seen by the tourist or traveler.

Now for booking and reservation after seeing the list of the hotels and the tourist or
traveler is interested, clicking the picture another form will appear containing more pictures
about the hotel, star rating, more information, showing the type of room the tourist or traveler
want to book. Clicking the button Book in the right side of the room type the user picked, the
textboxes will appear this is the time the tourist or traveler will input the necessary
information for booking process. The user will input his or her email address for verification
of the information the user fill out and this is a required input. The email address also need by
the hotels, so that the other information can be sent by the hotel to your email address. The
payment type is also included card type and card number it is very important and private
information so that high security is necessary. After filling out the form there is a button book
now, it will send the information of the tourist or traveler filled out in the booking form.

The payment that is said above; entering the card number, card holder name, security
code, and expiry date the transaction is processed. But before that above the text box of
entering card number there will be choices of what card will be used if it is master or visa
card. Above the choices of card there is the total amount of payment the guest must pay. After
the payment transaction the information will all send to the hotel then the hotel will send a
notification to the users email address.

There is Menu button at the top of the application contains the My Booking button
which will show all of the reservations the tourist or traveler made. The search bar will find
the tourists or travelers recent bookings if there are too many, the recent booking will not be
deleted even if it is done. The Map button will show all the location of the registered hotels in
the application. The account of user can be created; the account of the user can be bind to the
yahoo email address or Google email address.

The application can load hotels inside Bulacan area only, if the guest searches outside
province there will be nothing hotels to load. The proponents searches hotels and then found
sixteen hotels. In Marilao there is one hotel Hollywood Suits and Resort. Meycauayan has
four hotels Allesandra Garden SPA Hotel, Green Country Farm and Resort, Hollywood Suits
and Resort, and Le Beato Hotel Style Residences. Malolos has four also the DJ Paradise
Hotel, Cassa Oliva SPA Residences, GV Apartments, and Green Ville Drive Inn. Calumpit
has Leticias Garden Resort and Events Place and Lawiswis Kawayan Resort while Guiguinto
has Klir Waterpark Resort. Plaridel has Meaco Royal Hotel and Sir Nicos Guest House and
Resort, San Jose Del Monte has Pacific Waves Resort, and Pulilan has Aerostop Hotel and
Restaurant.
