In todays fast world it is difficult to find a true friend like you. I sometimes think I am very
lucky to get you. Life would have been very boring without you.
I still remember the first day of school when we were young, you called me and gave a seat
beside you. Its now almost 15 years and our relationship have grown in past years. I would
like to thank you for being there for me for the ups and downs of my life.
Last year when my father passed away you were a support to me and my family. I dont
know what I would have done without you then. You were more helpful than my relatives. I
can never forget how you stayed back in the hospital late night just to support me and my
mother. I cherish every moment of life we spent together.
Though you are away from me I still feel that you are close to me. How are your studies
going? Last time when you wrote you seemed little worried about the portions. I know you
will easily pass your engineering also with flying colors. Where are you next holidays? I am
eagerly waiting to meet you and spend some good time together.

A beautiful stag was drinking at a pool. He noticed his reflection in the water and was
admiring the size and greatness of his horns. After a few minutes of this he looked down at his
feet and saw how thin and weak they looked. He felt embarrassed.
My horns are so wonderful, but I hate my tiny feet! he grumbled, and walked away sulkily.
Meanwhile, a hungry lion had been following him. The lion said under his breath, What a
delicious lunch you are going to be! The stag turned and saw the lion, then started to run
quickly across the plain. His nimble feet gave him the advantage over the lion and he quickly
reached the forest.
You wont catch me now! called the stag to the lion, who was still far away. However, after
entering the forest the stag soon found that his horns had become tangled in the branches of
the apple trees above.
Oh no! cried the stag, What a fool I have been! I hated the feet that would have saved me, but
boasted about the horns that have made me a lions lunch! Every day the lion lies around
waiting for a foolish stag like me to come along, and now Oh dear!
By this time the lion had approached, walking slowly and smiling broadly.
Mmm! Ive been hoping for a meal like this all week! My dear friend the stag with his great big

Last Sunday I visited a marine park called Sea World, which is at Surfers Paradise near
Brisbane. Its the Australias largest marine park and I had a wonderful day there.
The first thing I saw was the Oceanorium, which is a place where you can watch all sorts of
fish and animals under water. There are huge turtles, sharks and beautiful tropical sea fish. The
most exciting thing was watching a man feeding the sharks. He wore a special diving suit.
Then I watched the performing sea animals. The show was in a big outdoor swimming-pool.
There were killer whales, dolphins and sea lions, and they did all sort of fantastic things in the
water. One of the girls in the show rode around the pool on the back of killer whale, and another
girl rode under water on the back of a big turtle. After the show I had lunch.
There were several big restaurants at the park and I had lunch in a restaurant that was
shaped like a ship!
Then I watched wonderful water-ski show which was held on a lake. There were lots of
other things to do at the park. There was like a cruising, a train ride, a big water slide,
swimming pool, and a credible roller-coaster called the corkscrew because it goes through
three loops upside down. But I wish I had gone on the roller-coaster ride before lunch rather
than after it.

Near my house exists a beautiful and unique beach called La Caleta. It's a balcony to the
Bay of Cadiz. Daily, large boats visit its waters and say hello to the green trees that surround it.

Dear Hanna,
How are you? I really miss you. I havent written a letter to you for a long time, because I am
very busy. I am so sorry for that.
I have been studying in the English Language Center at BYU in Provo, Utah. I have been here
since January 2016. This is a famous university. It is very beautiful. This university has a lot of
good lecturers and good disciplines. I have learned a lot from the university; every day I have a
lot of homework I need to do, and every week I have many tests. Sometimes I feel very tired,
and I want to have a rest for a few days but I cant do that.
Do you know why I dont study in New York? You know, in New York, there are many Chinese; I
can use Chinese as I have learned it since I was born. It is like living in China. I wont study
English well in New York. Provo is a school city. There are many universities here. People here
are very kind and polite. I have made many American friends here. Provo also has a beautiful
view in winter; there are a lot of white, snow-covered mountains. It is so beautiful. I love it very
much. Sometimes I go skiing with my friends.
Although everything is good here, I still have some problems. My husband and my son are in New
York. I am very worried about them. Every Sunday I go to the church to pray to God. I want God
help me take care of them. The other problem is the food here is not good for me, but it is okay.
How about you and your study? Please tell me when you write a letter to me.
Love,
Rachma

My grandmother is quite an old lady. She has already crossed sixty. Her years have now
bent her back a little but have not affected her activities. She is tall and thin. She is grey haired
and her humble and affectionate face is full of wrinkles. Her eye-sight, however, is quite good
and she can read without spectacles.
She is a religious lady. She is the first to leave her bed in the morning. Before we get up,
she has already taken her bath with fresh water. Immediately after taking a bath, she goes to
the nearby temple. We eagerly wait for her to come back, for she usually brings sweets for us.
Even at this age, she is very active and hard-working. She is very affectionate and caring. We,
her grandchildren, are attached to her more than to our parents
She is the most respected lady in our colony. Ladies, young and old, come to her for
advice. Sometimes they bring their problems. Sometimes she tells them her own experiences.
They listen to her respectfully.
When we were little kids, she used to be such a source of joy. We used to wait eagerly for
night because at night all of us snuggled near her and then she would tell stories like
Mahabharat, Ramayan, Panchtantra, etc.
Once upon a time, there was a hungry fox which was trying desperately to hunt a
sheep for dinner. He had been watching a herd of sheep in the field which was being
guided by a shepherd and his fierce dogs. There was no way for the fox to get near
enough to strike at the victim without being undetected.
After circulating the area for several times, he found a sheeps skin left behind by the
shepherd. So, the fox wore the sheeps skin to disguise himself as a sheep and mingle with
the herd of sheep unnoticed.
As he was trying to get a little lamb to stray away from the herd, a big Rottweiler
noticed something unusual. The dog could not figure out why there was one sheep which
had a long bushy tail. As he was approaching the unusual sheep, he sensed something
strange. Before the fox could strike at the victim, the Rottweiler gave the fox a big bite on his
back that sent him jumping up in mid air and quickly ran away from the scene.
Most interviews have a lead-in time of introductions and settling in, questions from the
interviewer/panel, and then a chance for the interviewee to ask questions.
Speak clearly and vary the tone to show you are interested and enthusiastic.
Give yourself time to think about each question. Pause before answering so that you
can think about the best response, and make sure you're giving them the information
they need.
Listen to questions carefully and let the interviewer lead the conversation. If you do not
understand a question, ask for it to be explained or repeated.
Be diplomatic and discreet, particularly about previous employers or co-workers. Don't
badmouth anybody.
Speak from experience - give examples that can demonstrate what knowledge and
skills you have, and what you have learned in the past.
Be positive about the skills you have and what you have done. Don't give the employer
a chance to downgrade your abilities by saying things such as "I only have..." or "I
don't have direct experience in that area". Instead, tell the employer what you do have
or can offer.

My first camping experience was when I was 14 years old. During the first week of our
school holiday, my parents asked me and my broter to camp for the first time. We were so
excited although it was not really far from the place where we lived. We camped for three
days.
Our parents took us to the prairie next to the small river behind the hill near our village.
When we arrived, we built two tents, one for my brother and I and one for my parents.
Before the sunset, my mother asked us to catch a fish in the river for our dinner and
she started to make a campfire. It was hard to catch a fish for my brother and I but we had
lots of fun, and my dad was kind enough to let us play with water while he caught two big
fishes. Later, we grilled the fishes on the fire and had it as our dinner.

Kansai International Airport (KIX) in Japan is the worlds first international airport built on a
man-made island, 5km off the Senshu coast at Osaka Bay.
Its terminal, a beautiful, modern four story structure, is the longest in the world
(1,7km) and was designed by the prominent Italian architect Renzo Piano.
Indeed, even first-time passengers feel the comfort and the convenience of KIX in
terms of the procedures and flow that need to be followed, from the time one disembarks
up to picking luggage. International arrivals sort out immigration matters and baggage on
the first floor, while international departures take place on the third floor after one is
ticketed on the fourth floor. A 24-Hour Airport Lounge, Business Center, VIP and
Conference Rooms and, of course, Duty Free shops offering branded goods at attractive
prices are readily available. If you happen to be traveling with your pet, you can always
have it kept at the Pet Hotel, the first ever in Japan.
The fact that the airport is 5 km away from Osaka is hardly a problem; with scheduled
ferry and bus services and taxis in places, you only need a very short time to reach the
other side.
10. Why does the long distance of the airport is not a problem for peoople?

B. The fact that the airport is very sophisticated.
C. All kinds of transportation are scheduled.
D. The transportation needed is available.

Last month I took a weekend trip to Seoul. I read about this cute art
village called Heyri, so I went out on a search. It was quite and adventure.
I took the 8 a.m. train to Seoul via bullet train. I arrived a little before 11 a.m. I
locked up my bags and looked for the subway. My teacher told me that Seoul's
subway system was chaotic. I waited for 40 -mutes for it to come. Then, once I
got on and sat down, it waited for another 30 minutes. I rode for another 40
minutes. Then, I transferred to a bus. I was lucky because the bus ride was not as
long as the train trip. It was only 20 minutes. I was happy to have finally arrived
at my destination.
Heyri is a small art village on the outskirts of Seoul. It's filled with art
galleries, bridges, and different artistic things. It was so cute and beautiful. I was
greeted at the gate by a giant blue man. It was - hilarious that a lot of Koreans

the Eagle's neck. The Eagle could not reach the Snake, neither with beak nor
claws. Far into the sky he soared trying to shake off his enemy. But the Snake's
hold only tightened, and slowly the Eagle sank back to earth, gasping for breath.
A Countryman chanced to see the unequal combat. In pity for the noble Eagle he
rushed up and soon had loosened the coiling Snake and freed the Eagle.
The Snake was furious. He had no chance to bite the watchful Countryman.
Instead he struck at the drinking horn, hanging at the Countryman's belt, and into
it let fly the poison of his fangs.
The Countryman now went on toward home. Becoming thirsty on the way, he
filled his horn at a spring, and was about to drink. There was a sudden rush of

Bees fly from flower to flower, sipping nectar and collecting grains of pollen. Bees
have a special tongue that sucks up the nectar and a crop in their throat for storing it until
they get back to the hive, where it is turned into honey to use as food.
Many plants depend on bees to spread pollen, helping them to reproduce. Flowers
that attract bees are usually yellow, blue, or purple. Many bees specialize in one plant
species. In areas where different flowering plants bloom at the same time, this keeps
different bee species from fighting over the same flower!
Honeybees and bumblebees live in colonies or hives. All the bees in the colony
work together for the good of the hive. Each has a job to do: the queen lays the eggs and
the workers build the honeycomb, care for the larvae and collect the food.

A laundress, newly moved to Charleston following the Civil War, found herself

the street. But she lived on a dead end street, and had no explanation for the noise.
Her husband would not allow her to look out the window when she heard the sounds,
telling her to leave well enough alone. Finally, she asked the woman who washed at
the tub next to hers. The woman said: "What you are hearing is the Army of the Dead.
They are Confederate soldiers who died in hospital without knowing that the war was
over. Each night, they rise from their graves and go to reinforce Lee in Virginia to
strengthen the weakened Southern forces."
The next night, the laundress slipped out of bed to watch the Army of the
Dead pass. She stood spell-bound by the window as a gray fog rolled passing. Within

the rumble of canons being dragged through the street, followed by the sound of
marching feet. Foot soldiers, horsemen, ambulances, wagons and canons passed

A rich man in a certain town once owned a dog and a cat. The dog had served his master for many years
and had become so old that he was unable to fight anymore, but he was a good guide and companion to
the cat who was strong and cunning.
The master had a daughter who was attending school at a convent some distance from home, and he
often sent the dog and the cat with presents to the girl.
One day he asked the faithful animalsto carry a magic ring to his daughter.
You are strong and brave, he said to the cat. You may carry the ring, but you must be careful not to
drop it.
And to the dog he said, You must go with the cat to keep her from harm.
They promised to do their best, and started out. All went well until they came to a river. As there was
neither bridge nor boat, there was no way to cross but to swim.
Let me take the ring, said the dog as they were about to plunge into the water.
You cannot swim well, argued the dog. I am strong and can take good care of it.
The cat refused to give up the ring until finally the dog threatened to bite her, and then she reluctantly
gave it to him.
The river was wide and the water was so swift that they grew very tired, and just before they reached
the opposite bank the dog dropped the ring. They searched carefully but could not find it anywhere.
They decided to turn back to tell the master. Just before reaching the house, however, the dog was so
scared that he ran away.
The cat told the master how the ring had been lost and how the dog had run away. He was very angry
and commanded all his people to find the dog and punish him by cutting his tail. He also ordered all the
dogs to join in the search and ever since when one dog meets another he says, Are you the old dog that
lost the magic ring? If so, your tail must be cut off. Then immediately each shows his teeth and wags his
tail to prove that he is not the guilty one.
The Sumatran rhinoceros has unique gray or reddish-brown coat. It is believed to be the
only survivor of the lineage that included the woolly rhinoceros. Sumatran rhinos stand up to 1.4 m

They live mainly in forest-covered hills near water and are known to be good at climbing
slopes and swimming. They move mainly at night, and spend most of the day wallowing in mud-
holes and pools.
Female rhinos reach sexual maturity at about the age of five or six. The males mature
between the ages of seven and eight. However, they do not father calves until they have claimed a
territory, which may take them three or four years. Rhinos always have a single calf, born after a
