PART 2 - MATERIALS
2.1. MATERIALS
Steel materials referred to this section are shape steel, steel plates, steel decking
for floor and other items such as studs, anchor bolts, welding electrodes, etc.
All materials to be new, of best commercial quality. Stock items to be well
manufactured by concerns specializing in particular articles, subject to approval by
Architect.
A. Structural steel : ASTM A-36 & ASTM A 572, grade as noted on the
drawings.
C. Welding electrodes for Structural steel : AWS D.1.1 only those electrodes in
E-60 XX series included in above specifications may be used as required by
conditions of intended use.
D. Metal decking : ASTM A 446-87 and A 525-87 and Steel Deck Institute (SDI)
Design Manual for Floor Deck and Roofs Decks.
A. General :
Except as otherwise specified or indicated, perform fabrication and
workmanship per AISC Specifications. Clean contact surfaces before
assembly. Tolerances for materials fabrication shall be per AISC "Code of
Standard Practice".
C. Shop Connections :

C. Deliver to site in ample time for installation : Anchor bolts, bearing plates
and other items to be set as part of other work for this project and complete
with templates and/or other setting instructions.
3.2. INSTALLATION
A. General
1. Erect structural steel with qualified riggers. Steel erection shall be
carefully planned and laid out to require minimum of cutting. Erect
work plumb, square and true to line and level and in precise positions.
Provide temporary bracing and guys to counterpart loads and stresses
to which structure may be subjected, including those due to erection
equipment and its operation; leave in place as required to safeguard
work. Do not unnecessarily encumber premises with material or
equipment. Arrange operations to cause no delay in or interferences
with other trades. Assume all risks in connection with performance of
this work.
2. Damaged Members : During erection, straighten or replace members,
which are bent, twisted or damaged, as directed. If heating is required
in straightening, perform such heating by methods which will insure
uniform temperature throughout entire member. Remove members,
which in the opinion of the Engineer are damaged to such an extent
impairing their appearance, strength or serviceability and replace with
new members.
3. Tolerance for Erection : Structural steel work, erection tolerances shall
be in accordance with the latest edition of the "AISC Specification for
the Design, Fabrication and Erection of Structural Steel for Buildings"
and "AISC Code of Standard Practice for Steel Buildings and Bridges",
and shall conform the tolerance as follows :
