Client Proposal

GAP travel need several things including a marketing product to give them a way to
advertise their product of helping people who need assistance with their world exploration.
There will be a list made with activities that are suggested, but after the first list of 30 ideas,
12 of them need to be developed onto the finished product. The visual style will be smooth
and easy to look at, the look will be modern but with a bubbly style to fit with the bright
ideas in the product. The aesthetic qualities will consist of bright colours as a background
but with the text in the opposing colours to make it stand out but still easily visible to see.
The finished product will be exported to a CD ROM which will be sold in shops specifying in
holiday advise such as news agents or the travel agents to buy on hand. Another way of
distributing the product would be using the internet. It needs to be published to a CD ROM
entitled Things to do before you are 30 and must hold a list of options for the user to do
before they reach the age of 30The product could also be published online but as it is a DVD
that may need to be taken on a travel, it would be better to have a physical copy. When
complete, the product will look smooth and transition well. If it isnt smooth and if it doesnt
transition well, then it will look clunky and wont turn out half as well as preferred. For my
assets, Im going to use google images to find pictures with no copy right on to use as the
most exotic and beautiful shots are not near my current location. Also, when taken of google
images they can be quickly put into a phot editing software to edit and make suitable for the
DVD.

The company I am working for is Gap Travel. They have given me a basic outline of the things
the product should have. Gap Travel want an accessible multi-media DVD/CD ROM. That can
be handed out at fairs or in stores. The CD needs to be attractive to both males and females
between the age of 16 and 30. And include features such as:

Sound
Text
Video
Navigation
An attractive/working interface.

The product must show the companies professionalism and capability to make a good
product. The product also must have a direct impact on the standing market. The client
emphasised that I have 100% control over the style of the product and the colour scheme
but the basic features must remain.

The product will be filed in director (the software thats being used). This will then be
formatted onto a CD ROM for the buyer to sell on.

More features that are more advanced on the product are:

Text

I can decide the fonts, sizes and colours examples will be shown on the mood board.
Colour Scheme

I can choose the Design of the splash page, contents page, the sub contents page and two or
more sample pages. All with a corresponding colour scheme.

Splash Screen.

Our team will figure out the best option for the background examples will be shown on the
mood board.

Videos, animations and graphics

For this section I need +2 videos with controls (stop, play, mute, possibly rewind.) Also, +2
Animations made on flash player, Suitable graphics for a rolling presentation and possibly
animated gifs.

Navigation

The software must be easy to control and have basic functions such as forwards, backwards
and exit.

Group certain items such as Fun, excitement and adventure.

I should design a choice of buttons and have examples on a mood board with factors such
as: The size of the buttons, where theyre positioned.

Sounds

Sound clips should be in the product such as transitions sounds like: zoom the music

The type of production being used is interactive media product and for the target audience,
I need to consider a few things. It needs to be produced on a DVD OR cd rom entitled
Things to do before you are 30 and must hold a list of options for the user to do before
they reach the age of 30. It can include a range of products including; Places to visit, things
to see, adventures to have etc.

Here is some research from other similar sites. The research Ive done should be on sites
with similar purposes (such as sites which target gap years) so that I can see what
competition we are dealing with. I will need to see some different sites to see what works
and what doesnt. This should help me make a successful product and be able to make my
client happy.
https://gentwenty.com/bucket-list-30-things-to-do-before-you-
turn-30/

This website is very easy to follow and is lay out well, but. The site
is very zoomed in so you must scroll down another page after
reading 4 things to do. However, all the suggestions for this
bucket list are very well thought out and would appeal to a
younger audience.

This website is very like the other website but it has an add on
where it tells you who has suggested the idea so the user can
follow a person who has an interesting idea.

http://www.mydomaine.com/things-to-do-in-your-20s/

This website is like all the others but gave the viewer a picture with every activity so that I can
see what the experience may be like and would intrigue them more. The options given are very
thoughtful and would be very easy and price efficient for an average 16-30-year-old.

The content within:

In this product, Gap Travel will be requiring that each idea this is being promoted makes the
user to give it a try and to book it through that travel company. The content needs to make
the ideas sound fun and likeable with the target market in range. This means that slang and
colloquial terms should not really be presented in a product based around 16-30 year olds.

The layout:
The layout should be thought out carefully and planned through with the use of mood boards
and drawings before trying to create the first draft. It needs to be professional, yet
interesting at the same time, and should make sure that consistency is used throughout
each of the pages to ensure that it works well as a whole product. Once I have come up with
some initial design sketches, I will need to agree them with the client, so that every decision
made is agreed by both the designer and the client. This means that both gap travel and I
are on the same page.
Story Boards:
Main menu:
After looking at these two designs, I have decided that theyre both clear and would be
simple for the user to navigate their way through it.

Here is an example of an option made in photoshop:

Storyboards will need to be made for a splash page (the first page people see), a
contents page, a sub contents page, and two individual sample pages. My product
should also include an exit icon which enables the user to close the product
immediately.

Visual Style
The visual style would have to be simple yet affective. It must look clutter free and
have no space taken up by un-needed items. These items can be shrunk or just fully
taken off to make it look tidier.

Graphics and Backgrounds

The Graphics I will use will be free from all copyright and all relating to the content
on the disc. I will avoid clip art or cartoon looking pictures as it will make the product
less professional and decrease the value to serious customers therefore including
cartoons would make it look childish and amateurish, it wont fit in with these
intentions.
They main menu will probably have a general image of beach or forest area to make
the user really feel like theyre getting into the exploration process starting at this
product. The images may be water-marked for each page with the name of the
activity for example Bungee Jumping or Scuba diving in an opaque style, still
showing the text but with also showing the image.
I will most likely edit the photos to have a similar outline ort something to keep a
consistent style and theme to give it that professional look.
These are suggestions of headings:

Headings:

1. Gap Travel Stencil

2. Gap Travel - Rockwell
3. Gap Travel Broadway
4. Gap Travel Juice ITC
5. Gap Travel - Giddyup

6. Gap Travel Magneto
7. Gap Travel Mistral Gap
Travel Edwardian Script IT
8. Gap Travel - Tekton Pro

The logo:
Gap Travel needs a clear logo that immediately gives the user the impression of the company, so
exciting, fun and interesting. I have come up with a few ideas for the logo design using basic shapes
and colours that are available. Further development I will use photoshop.

After viewing all the my options I have decided that option 1 is the one I choose, With a white
background it will look sophisticated and hold the value of the product to be fun and exciting.
