At Monson Elementary, staff have had an issue with health. The staff fridge is filled to the brim
with junk food. The staff become lazy and often keep to themselves. Approaching our staff with
the information below will support the importance of every individuals health of all aspects. The
aspects of health that will be covered are Social, Emotional, Physical, Spiritual, Nutritional and
Intellectual.
Presentation Curriculum Plan 2
Background
The plan will begin directly with the educators. We will work on targeting the issue at
hand by bringing social interactions to them. Social health involves ones ability to form
satisfying interpersonal relationships with others. It also relates to ones ability to adapt
comfortably to different social situations and act appropriately in a variety of settings. It becomes
difficult to interact with coworkers and others when we are so cooped up in our classrooms.
Getting out on planed social events and social interactions during work is an excellent way to
encourage the interactions to happen. Activities will occur on the weekend to begin the
cultivation of social health. Other activities will be planned to occur at school. The best
interactions occur when work is not involved. Work talk is strictly prohibited at the events to
allow individuals a stress less environment. The diversity of environments will allow for
Background
Physical Health is crucial to ones life. Having a healthy lifestyle can occur simply by
getting out of the desk and walking around. We are going to begin to require educators to get out
of their classes with students at least every hour and a half. They can get students to do stretches
in the classroom for 5 minutes, jog in place, or take everyone for a walk around the school. For
educators themselves, small challenges will be implemented to encourage physical efforts. Step
counting, weight loss, BPI and healthy eating will be encouraged. We will encourage fun
competitions to assist our educators in reaching their goals. As a school, we can work to get to a
healthy standing. Sports teams may also be formed to bring an enjoyable form of exercise to our
educators. Recreational teams are not mandatory to join, but increase activity and social life of
the educators. As a whole, we plan to work on bettering the future of our educators through
Background
We plan on beginning with creating a mutual respect for all religions out there.
Spirituality is a way that individuals can grow as themselves. It is a form of expression and
personal to every individual. We plan to do this by introducing new religions to every individual
in the office. First, we will begin to do meetings during lunch or after school that educators can
share their religious beliefs. These are completely voluntary to those who wish to come. We will
not be implementing this into the classroom in any way since state and church are separate.
There is no pressure to go to these meetings, but it does encourage an open mind to those around
them. Programs such as this are not curriculum or a stress to educators around the school. It is
purely an opportunity for others to get to know one another and grow spiritually if they so please.
A Zen room will be formed in the spare classroom we have to create an environment in which
educators can escape for a small time. There will be zen gardens and massage chairs to calm
Background
Our educators well-being it a top priority. Out of nearly every aspect to teach, nutrition
has become one of the most crucial ones. Even if an educator is not extremely physical, nutrition
can supplement for a fair amount of that. Nutrition can affect the life span of an individual by
controlling how their body functions over time. Diseases like heart disease, diabetes, liver failure
and others affect those who do not treat their body properly. We will begin to teach the educators
about what a balanced meal looks like before we set expectations. Posters of a balanced meal
will be put in every classroom and eating setting, as well as being built into the curriculum. From
there, we will lengthen lunch to benefit both our educators and students. Educators will be able
to travel to further lunch places rather than the few fast food places around the school. Students
will benefit to having a longer time to play and exercise. Another thing we can do is bring lunch
to the educators once a week. Small things like this will add up to major changes in the life of
our educators.

Background
Teaching elementary school can be fun and exciting, but not always take the critical
thinking that everyone needs to get through college. We will begin to implement testing twice a
year to require our teachers to continue to use critical thinking. These tests will not be for a grade
but required for interacting with coworkers. Each coworker will work in collaboration with
others to come up with the answers. We will also do brain teaser game at our monthly meetings
that they have all month to solve on their own. This will create a fun environment that gets all
educators to work on their own to solve problems. Another way is to allow for mental rest during
holidays. We will not require work to be completed in any way throughout the holidays. When
educators are off work, they should be mentally checked out as well. We hope that these simple
ways will allow for intellectual health and growth in the future.
