Group Assignment Guidelines,Weightage: 20 %

Topic: Assessment of the Logistics Function in Retail Firms

- Inventory and Logistics Management is an AOL course. The work of each group member
will be evaluated separately.
- The group size is 6 so each group will select 6 different companies (either Indian or MNC).
Each member will be responsible for single company only and therefore his/her work will
be marked separately.
- Group assignment will be followed by Group presentation in which each group member
will present his/her work.
- The selection of logistics companies such as DHL, FedEx, UPS, Bluedart is not allowed.

Deadline -
- 18th November 2017 (for Proposal ) through CR
- 28th November 2017 (for Assignment) both hard & soft copy submission through CR

Information/ Source of Information


- You may refer website of the company to understand its logistics functions and the latest
tools, techniques, and practices adopted by the company
- You may also refer latest consulting reports (Mckinsey, Booz & company, PwC, Deloitte
and EY), articles, web-links, and books for finding the information.
- Weightage will be given on inclusion of primary data either qualitative information on
quantitative information pertaining to the firms.

Synopsis / research proposal


Group should provide two-page outline of the group project

It will include:
- Overview of companies selected
- Rational behind selection of the particular company
- List the Sub topics to be covered in the report
- Expected outcome of the study
- Responsibility of each group member in the project

Marking Criteria

A. Presentation Criteria:-
- Eye Contact
- Body Language & Poise
- Elocution
- Subject Knowledge
- Handling questions answers
B. Report Evaluation Criteria
- Subject Knowledge
- Analysis and Discussion of the idea
- Organisation of project

Format of the Group Projects

Number of Pages: 15 (Max) for each company excluding references and cover pages.
Introduction page should not be more than 1 page.
Company overview, such as year of foundation, number of branches, number of plants,
market share and types of products, which are easily available on the companys
website are not required.

Warehousing - Differences in the tools/techniques/
Material Handling methods used by these companies to
Logistical Packaging achieve the logistics competency
- Latest tools, techniques and methods used
in any of the logistics elements

- C. Impact of logistics/ supply chain function on environmental sustainability-


Any information related to green sourcing, green production, green distribution
and recycling/ reuse.
How the SCM/logistics functions affects the environmental sustainability
