-Notes on using the software with Windows XP Media Center Edition 2004 /
Windows XP Media Center Edition / Windows XP Professional / Windows XP Home
Edition
When using ICD-BP series IC recorders with the computers with the
standard-installed Windows XP Media Center Edition 2004 / Windows XP Media
Center Edition / Windows XP Professional / Windows XP Home Edition, and you
connect the IC recorder to the USB port of your computer for the first time,
[Found New Hardware Wizard] window is displayed.
Select [Install the software automatically] and then click [Next]. Then the
[Hardware Installation] warning message may appear. You may ignore the
message without problem and click [Continue Anyway] to proceed with using the
software.
1 When using an external hub, connect the IC recorder directly to the computer.
2 Disconnect and then connect the cable with the IC recorder.
3 When your computer is equipped with multiple USB ports, connect the IC
recorder to another USB port.
Depending on the type of the computer, you may not be able to start your
computer when it is being connected to the IC recorder. If this occurs,
change the boot sequence setting in the BIOS of your computer to start from
the hard disk. Or disconnect the IC recorder and then restart your computer.
For how to change the BIOS settings, see the manual of your computer.
-Note on formatting
To format the IC recorder or the "Memory Stick", make sure to use the
formatting function of the IC recorder. If you format it in your computer,
the IC recorder is unable to recognize the contained data. In this case,
use the IC recorder to format it again. For details, see the operating
instructions of the IC recorder. The IC recorder ICD-BP series does not
have the formatting function.
-Note on all the versions of the "Memory Stick Voice Editor" software
After installing the "Digital Voice Editor" software, do not install the
"Memory Stick Voice Editor Ver. 1.0/1.1/1.2/2.0" software. The "Digital
Voice Editor" will not work properly. With the "Digital Voice Editor"
software, you can save or edit the messages in the "Memory Stick". In case
you installed the "Memory Stick Voice Editor" software, remove the "Memory
Stick Voice Editor", and then install the "Digital Voice Editor" software
again.
-Notice for customers using the ICD-MS/BM series Memory Stick IC recorder
A message you recorded with the ICD-MS1 is an MSV (ADPCM) file and cannot
be played back with an ICD-BM series IC recorder.
A message recorded in SP or LP mode with an ICD-S series IC recorder,
ICD-MS5xx, or ICD-BM series is an MSV (LPEC) file. You cannot play it back
with an ICD-MS1.
A message recorded in the ST mode with an ICD-BM series IC recorder is an
MSV (LPEC Stereo) file and cannot be played back with an ICD-MS series IC
recorder.
To play one of these messages with your IC recorder, use the Digital Voice
Editor to save the message, make the Codec setting to suit your Memory Stick
IC recorder, and then add it to your IC recorder.
For details, see the online help topic "Setting the file format for saving
or adding a message(Codec)".
You cannot use the following functions of the Digital Voice Editor for an
MSV(ADPCM) file:
-Changing the user name
-Dividing or combining
-Playback using a bookmark
-Changing the priority setting (You can set it on the "Memory Stick.")
On using the software, we recommend you that you do not use two-bytes
characters when you input file names, message names, user names, etc.
Two-bytes characters may not be displayed properly on the software. Use
of two-bytes characters may cause unstable operation also.
