Purpose
This document includes important, late-breaking information about this release of Oracles
Essbase Administration Services, formerly known as Hyperion System 9 BI+ Analytic
Administration Services. Review this information thoroughly before installing Administration
Services.

Administration Services is the administration tool for managing and maintaining Oracle's
Hyperion Essbase System 9. Administration Services consists of a client console
(Administration Services Console) and a middle tier application server (Administration Server)
that communicates directly with Essbase Servers and facilitates functionality such as
background processing. Administration Services Console provides a single point of access for
viewing, managing, and maintaining the Essbase environment. For more information, see the
Administration Services Online Help.

Known Issues
Every effort has been made to ensure that Essbase Administration Services performs without
problems. However, the issues listed in this section remain at the time of release.

The JISX0213 Japanese character set, which replaces the JISX0208 and JISX0212 Japanese
character sets, is supported on Windows Vista. The Analytic family of products, including
Administration Services, does not support the JISX0213 Japanese character set. (8-
563756229)
In Outline Viewer, the use of wildcard characters (?, *) is not supported as the first
character in the search string. (8-531119155)

Using Hyperion Configuration Utility to re-deploy an existing web application to WebLogic

8.1.x does not work properly. A workaround is to first un-deploy the web application using
the application server admin console, and then use Hyperion Configuration Utility to deploy
the web application fresh.
When managing Shared Services models and naming applications, you cannot use the
forward slash (/), backslash (\), or double quotation () characters. All other alphanumeric
and special characters can be used in application names. (8-514151218)

Defects Fixed
The following defects are fixed in Essbase Administration Services Release 9.3.1. The Siebel
defect number follows the description of the defect.

When migrating an aggregate storage (ASO) application, pending cache size is not migrated
as an application property. (1-189390061)
When Administration Services is deployed to an application server using a TCP/IP port
number with four digits (for example, 8080), attempts to externalize an Analytic Services
database or application will fail. (8-588430669)
It is not possible to sort the Users list in Administration Services Console on all columns. (8-
584146961)
When exporting a database using MaxL commands, the error message Unable to open
.tmp file occurs. (8-551103906)
Administration Services cannot be installed on a Windows 2003 64-bit dual core Itanium
using the Montecito chipset. (8-546847239)
If ESSLANG is set to English_UnitedStates.Latin1@Default, extra lines may be added to calc
scripts opened in Administration Services Console. (1-176250603)
