INTRODUCTION

The use of computer has become the most popularized means of

facilitating, teaching and learning in the recent times. Computer usage has

turned out to be the fastest means of passing information to every

educational sector and business world. The focus and emphasis on the use

of information and communication technologies in all areas of life has long

become global.

In recent times, the world has witnessed a rapid increase in

technological innovations. This era ushered in the advent of the electronic

computer system among other modern technologies. At present the

computer technology has permeated nearly all aspects of human

organizational roles and education.

Computer encompasses almost all aspect of human activities. However,

much work has not been done on computer and its application and

relevance to education. This work aims to fill this gap, as it discusses the

importance of computer to the field of education.

 In the history of education, the 1970s will stand out as the year when

many countries throughout the world introduce computers in school on a

large scale. Today, computer technology in schools is one of the most far-

reaching and fast growing developments in education. In schools,

computers are widely used; and the need for computer technology and

literacy in the educational system has become more relevant. Computer

has been found to be an effective device for presenting an instructional

programme.

Computers can be used to diversify, develop and improve the

pedagogical relation of teaching and learning. Also, technological

development can only be enhanced through proper acquisition of scientific

knowledge ( Mc Cormick ,1993). The aim of this presentation is to point

out the major important of the computer to education.

PURPOSE
There are many purpose of implementing the computer in education but

the major purposes are listed below:

To assess to what extent, and how computers are used in education.

To know the potential and actual benefit of the computer to

educational sector.

To describe how the computer is useful to the teachers, lecturers and

the students.
Review

In the olden days when computers were not introduce into education,

teaching and learning is not as easy and interesting when compared to the

present day situation.

RECOMMENDATION ON HOW TO FURTHER THE IMPACT
OF COMPUTER TECHNOLOGY IN EDUCATION

Due to the significance of the computer to the education there is a need

for recommending the use of the computers in every aspect of education

as follows:

Public enlightment should be made on the importance of computer to

education.

Computers should be made available at low price.

Establishment of computer training schools.

Electricity should be adequately provided most especially in every

department of the school.

Computer study should be made compulsory in every school.

Regular training on computer should be done at every school.

Adequate computers with strong internet connection should be

provided free to the student by the department.

 SUMMARY

Summarizing what we have discussed so far we have learnt that:

Computer has a great advantage in the educational sector

Both the learners, teachers and student need computer for an

effective improvement and success in their studies

Also the important of education is not limited to the field of education

but rather extend to other fields and professions

Every student is recommend to obtain a personal computer to aid his

education
CONCLUSION

In conclusion, I will like to confidently stated it that computer plays a vital

role in teaching and learning process. Also it is evident that computers are

no more limited to education but are widely use in different aspect of life.

Therefore, I strongly advise that greater effort should be made to

sustain and improve the development of computers in our colleges and

society.
