RUGBY TOUR TO NEW ZEALAND

Total Rugby is a dedicated specialist inbound rugby tour company. The

company has been operating since 2003 and host on average 14 groups per
season. Rugby is more than just a game in New Zealand. Total Rugby
understands and knows the rugby culture here and is best placed to
incorporate this into their rugby tour itineraries.

Based in Christchurch, Total Rugby promotes all New Zealand destinations.

DAY 1
TAHITI / AUCKLAND / CHRISTCHURCH

Welcome to New Zealand. Arrive into

Christchurch on flight XXX. You will be met
by Total Rugby staff who will assist with
your coach transfer to your accommodation
at a local school boarding hostel.

Christchurch is a garden city on the east

coast of New Zealands South Island, set on the Canterbury Plains. Flat-
bottomed punts glide on the Avon River, which runs through the city
centre. On its banks are cycling paths, the green expanse of Hagley Park
and the Christchurch Botanic Gardens.

Early dinner at the hostel

This evening head to AMI Stadium to watch

the Super Rugby clash between the
Crusaders and the Blues. Crusaders game-
day is like no other rugby game on earth wit
the Crusader Horses, Maidens and Vangelis.

SUNDAY JULY 15
DAY 2
CHRISTCHURCH

A training session with your own coaching staff will be held this morning

Then depart Depart by coach for a

Christchurch city highlights tour. You will
see a city in recovery following the
earthquakes that rocked Canterbury
during 2011 and 2012. Most of the
demolition of damaged buildings is now
completed and the rebuild is underway.
The cost of the rebuild is currently
estimated at more than $40 billion!!

This afternoon depart by coach for Spencerville, just

north of Christchurch where its time for some team
building fun in the trees at Adrenalin Forest. Its a
multi-level aerial obstacle course!! It includes 6
pathways from 1.5 to 20 meters high, 100 challenges
and is more than 2km long.

Welcome to the home of the most successful Super
Rugby team in the history of the competition and
also to the home of current National Champions,
Canterbury.

Here you will gain an understanding of what it means to be part of the

Crusader and Canterbury legacy, where mediocrity will not be tolerated!
There is a constant striving for excellence in everything, and players,
coaches, staff live and breath this mantra.

Introducing your Coaching Manager: Grant Keenan

Grant has recently been appointed to the position of IHPU

Manager. Grant will be coordinating and working with the High
Performance components of the rugby programme.

Grant Keenan has been involved in coaching since 1998 stretching

close to 20 years of coaching experience. Grant starting coaching
in Christchurch at his Christchurch club with the Christchurch Colts side. A career move
to Auckland in 2002 allowed Grant to join the famous Ponsonby Rugby Club where
Grant was Head Coach of the Premier side from 2003 to 2006. A feature of the 2003
side was that seven members attended the Rugby World Cup in Australia. Under
Grants guidance this side won the Auckland Championship (Gallaher Shield) in 2004,
2005 and 2006.
Post Ponsonby success Grant then left NZ and spent 4 years coaching professionally
in Japan with Toyota Shokki. On his return to NZ Grant was assistant coach of
Auckland B in 2011 & 2012 before moving back to Canterbury to be assistant coach of
the Mid Canterbury Heartland side in 2013 & 2014, both years winning the Meads Cup.
In 2015 Grant became Head Coach of Mid Canterbury only to lose to Wanganui late in
the semi Final. Grant was then appointed Head Coach of the New Zealand Heartland
XV who beat the NZ Marist XV followed by 2 tests vs. the touring Australian Barbarian
side.
Following on from the New Zealand Heartland XV Grant was appointed Skills & Backs
Coach of the New Zealand Black Ferns for 2016 & 2017 seasons. This included an
unbeaten tour to the UK late in 2016 culminating by winning the Womens Rugby World
Cup in Ireland in August of 2017.

WEDNESDAY JULY 18

This morning you will be joined for breakfast by a

celebrity New Zealand rugby player. Learn about the
life of a professional rugby player over breakfast,
there will be an opportunity for photographs and
autographs.
Packed lunches will be available to collect after
breakfast

Then head out to the International Antarctic Centre where its time to get
coldThe Antarctic Attraction is located in the heart of a working Antarctic
campus at Christchurch International Airport. It is from here that many
Antarctic missions are organized. Included in your admission is a ride on the
Hagglund all terrain vehicle. Sit back, hold on and experience travelling
across rough terrain in this unique and exciting machine This ride is the only
one of its type in the world!! Watch the Little Blue Penguins be hand fed and
experience the 4D Movie.
A short drive to your next stop - Action Karts for
some high octane fun on the race track. Action Kart
Raceway is New Zealands only clay kart track. Its
awesome fun and something totally different.

Morning: 2 hour coaching session under the

guidance of Grant Keenan

Late afternoon depart by Ko Tanes Cityline coach for this

evenings cultural experience and hangi dinner. As parts of
this evenings experience is outdoors please dress warmly.
Ko Tane's Living Maori Village is located at Willowbank,
Christchurch, where Maori culture and conservation meet to
give a unique glimpse into the way of life of the South
Island Ngai Tahu Maori people before the arrival of the
Europeans. Learn about the coming of the Pakeha (fair-
skinned ones), the changes Maori were forced to make from
their traditional way of life and how the culture has grown
and adapted as a result. Join in the laughter as you take
part in a performance of the haka(men) or the poi dance
(women), and be entertained by the songs and games
performed by the kapa haka (Maori cultural performance)
group. Take a guided New Zealand nature tour and get
close to kiwi, kea and other native species housed in
sensitively purpose-built environments. The enjoy
concludes with a traditional hangi dinner

CHRISTCHURCH / HANMER SPRINGS

Depart by coach this morning for Hanmer Springs. Travelling north from
Christchurch through the wineries region of Waipara, travel time approx.
1.5 hours.

Stop just south of Hanmer Springs

where you will join Thrill Seekers
as you jet the entire length of
Hanmers spectacular Waiau
Gorge. Following the contours of
the steep canyon walls where
possible, elbows in as you pass within centimetres of rugged rocks and cliff
faces. Take in the magnificent scenery, then .hold on while you experience
the famous Hamilton jet spin. Make no mistake this is the best! Narrow
gorges, braided shallows, white water rapids this trip has it all. Over 30km
of exciting jetboating spectacular scenery a total, unique experience.

Arrive into the small alpine village of Hanmer Springs for a one night stay
at a local backpackers.

Spend the afternoon at the world

famous Hanmer Springs Thermal
Reserve. Set in a breathtaking natural
landscape, surrounded by forests and
mountains, the award-winning
Thermal Pools include nine open-air
thermal pools, three sulphur pools . A
fresh-water, heated pool and a popular family activity area, complete with
water slides and water toys and picnic area, ensure the Thermal Pools &
Spa offer something for everyone.

HANMER SPRINGS / CHRISTCHURCH

Enjoy a free morning wondering through the

township of Hanmer Springs. Perhaps enjoy a
game of mini-golf or hire bikes and head of on
one of the many easy bike trials in the local
forest.

Depart late afternoon for Christchurch and check in to a local hotel for your
final 6 nights.

No winter visit to New Zealand is complete without a

day on the ski slopes. Depart by coach for Mt Hutt
ski field. At 2086m Mt Hutt has one of the largest
vertical drops in the South Island and the greatest
variety of terrain ranging from long, super wide
groomed runs to double black diamond chutes.
Regarded as New Zealands true high-country ski
area, Mt Hutt has a laid back attitude and hospitality
to match. There is a well developed trail network
suited to all snow lovers from the total beginner
through to the worlds top pro racers and riders. A
lesson, hire of skis/snowboard and lift pass are
included in your package.
