FUNDING OVERVIEW
As of 16 October 2017
The humanitarian needs created by the massive influx of Rohingya refugees into Bangladesh that began on 25 August have
continued to grow. The preliminary inter-agency response plan issued on 7 September called for $77.1M to respond to the
needs of people crossing the border. Due to the unprecedented volume of new arrivals and the immense strain on
infrastructure, services and the host population, the revised response plan for the crisis requests $434M to provide life-saving
assistance to Rohingya refugees and Bangladeshi host communities from September to the end of February 2018. The
following information provides an overview of the international response to this growing crisis and existing gaps.
HUMANITARIAN RESPONSE PLAN FOR THE ROHINGYA REFUGEE CRISIS (in US$)
More than $180M of commitments and contributions have been reported for all humanitarian response in Bangladesh since the
beginning of 2017.
$15M of this amount was contributed in response to the floods and landslides in May and June which affected several areas,
including Coxs Bazar.
$152M of the total has been reported in response to the influx of Rohingya refugees that began in late August.
CERF whose support is made possible by the generous contributions of Member States and other organisations -- is the third
largest source of funds to Bangladesh this year, with $5M for flood response and $19M to respond to the recent influx of
refugees. It is currently the second largest source of funds to the response plan.
In addition to the above figures, there are unconfirmed or uncommitted pledges that have been made in recent weeks.
