1.1 Routine Maintenance Purposes

Routine maintenance is a preventive and periodic measure. It is to discover and remove
the faults and hidden troubles in time by checking and maintaining the devices and the
machine room periodically when the devices are working properly. Maintaining the devices
and the networks can make the whole system work properly, reliably and in security in long
term.
The purposes of routine maintenance:
l Discover the alarms sent by the devices or faults on the devices in time, and take
appropriate measures to handle and recover the faults, thus maintaining the healthy
level of the devices and reducing the device faults.
l Discover the abnormalities of the link status or the connection status during service
operation in time, and take appropriate measures to handle and recover the system
faults, thus ensuring normal service operation.
l Grasp the operation status of the devices and the networks in real time, know the
operation trend of the devices and the networks, and improve the sudden-event
handling efficiency of the maintenance personnel.
l Make the devices always remain in good condition, and ensure the safe, stable and
reliable operation of the system through regular maintenance.
l By regular check, backup, test and cleaning, discover the hidden troubles, including
natural aging, function invalidation and performance deterioration during the device
operation in time, and handle these troubles to prevent an accident.

1.2 Routine Maintenance Principles and Precautions

If you discover any fault during routine maintenance, please start the related
troubleshooting flow and handle the fault according to the documents of the ZXR10
M6000 product on the ZTE Technical Support Website (http://support.zte.com.cn/).

ZXR10 M6000 Routine Maintenance

To make the devices work reliably and in security in long term and reduce accidents and
maintenance costs, please consider and refer to the following principles when you use and
maintain the devices.

Machine Room Management

Observe the following precautions when you manage a machine room.
l Make sure that the machine room meet the related national standards or the basic
industrial standards. Keep clean, provide a suitable temperature, keep dry, and
prevent insects and mice.
l Make sure that the system power supply is stable and reliable. Check the system
earthing and lightning protection periodically. Especially when the thunder storm
season is coming or over, check the lightning protection system.
l Make sure that the illuminance in the machine room meet the basic maintenance
requirements. Repair the lights that are not in good condition. Prevent the illuminance
dead angles that affect maintenance.
l Establish a complete set of maintenance regulations for the machine room to
standardize the routine maintenance work of the maintenance personnel. Create
detailed duty logs and make detailed records of the routine operation state of the
system, version, data change, upgrading and troubleshooting. This facilitates fault
analysis and troubleshooting once a fault occurs. Keep a shift record to define the
responsibilities clearly.

Operational Precautions
Observe the following operational precautions.
l The system administrators should keep the usernames and passwords of the devices
properly. Set the periods of validity for the passwords and change the passwords
periodically. Manage the passwords according to the rights strictly. Divide the
maintenance rights of the maintenance personnel and the work stations, and make
sure that the devices are operated in security.
l Make records for all the important or risky operations (such as board changeover,
device resetting, and board resetting). Choose an appropriate time and an appropriate
solution. Before the operations, the qualified maintenance personnel must take the
related backup, emergency, and protection measures.
l The modifications to the configurations on the devices should be controlled strictly.
Back up the data before you do any change to them. After the modifications, make
sure that the devices are working properly on site. Make records for the modifications.
l When plugging in or out device hardware, wear antistatic wrist straps. Do not put the
faulty components in the cabinet or install these components on the rack. Keep these
components properly and have them repaired in time.

Maintenance Precautions
Observe the following maintenance precautions.
