I. Project Title

A Proposed Covered Walk from Andres C. Gonzales (ACG) building to Gregoria

Sanchez Hall (GSH)

II. Project Proponent

This project is headed by, Abraham Jacob D. Cu, Jeremiah Peter I. Cuba and
Dandy P. Salvadora through the help of the ARCETECH Department.
III. Project Rationale

This project aims to provide a conducive path for everyone transferring from ACG
building to GSH. No one will ever worry about a heavy rain or extreme heat when
transferring from one building to another because there will be a shade/roof above
them. Without this covered walk, students and teachers may arrive to their classrooms
late because it is raining especially when they forgot to bring their umbrellas. They may
be marked as absent resulting to being one-lesson behind and salary deduction.

IV. Project Objectives

To provide shade from sun or rain when transferring from one building to
another.
To realize the suggestions of students of having the said covered walk.
To help students and teachers not to be late on their class especially
during heavy rain.

V. Project Description

According to Oxford Dictionary, a covered walk is a passage or path for walking

along, especially a raised passageway connecting different sections of a building or a
wide path in a park or garden. Also according to Cambridge Dictionary, it is a passage
or path, especially one that is covered or raised above the ground.

Since the Gregoria Sanchez Hall (GSH), also known as new building, was
constructed, students, visitors and most especially, teachers, who will have his/her next

class at the other building, have been requesting for a covered walk between the
Andres C. Gonzales (ACG) building and the Gregoria Sanchez Hall (GSH). They keep
on requesting this covered walk because it is such a hassle for everyone to transfer
from ACG to GSH especially during a scorching hot or rainy day. For an instance, it is
raining and the student/teacher will have his/her next class at the other building but
he/she doesnt have his/her umbrella. He/she may be late for the class. The student
may be one-or-two-lesson behind the class and the teacher may have his/her salary
deducted. This project can be the realization of these requests and the solution of these
problems. With this, no one will ever have the reason of being late because it is raining
and they do not have their umbrellas with them.

Two paths were taken into consideration. The first path goes through the road
between the basketball court and mini football field towards GSH. The second one runs
through the road between the land ship and the basketball court up to GSH. The second
one was chosen because the flow of traffic will not be affected drastically.

The covered walk will have a floor elevation of .5m, a width of 2m, a height of
2.5m and 4.5m, and a length of about 140m. The construction may last up to 4 months.

We put the said covered walk at the right side so that the flow of the traffic will
not be affected by the covered walk

This project will be accomplished through the professional and financial help of
engineers and architects, the faculty of ARCETECH Department, the university
administration, and also the support of the students.

VI. Project Duration

According to an experienced engineer, it is estimated for a 100 meter

length of the said covered walk to be finished in 2 months.

VII. Target Beneficiaries

Students, faculties, personnel, visitors and the entire USANT community,

especially those who transfer from ACG to GSH regularly, will benefit from this project.
