is the task from English for technic lesson

INTRODUCTION

1.1 Background
Reading is an activity that we do to get information. Through these
activities, we are required to capture the ideas of the text not only reading
aloud. That is why there are questions related to reading text after we read
a passage. That questions conducted to test whether we have understood
the reading well or not.
After knowing the purpose of reading is to capture the idea of a
text, then we move to reading comprehension. Reading comprehension is a
main pillar in the activity of reading, where the reader understand the
passage. He combines the logical thinking by a collection of letters, words
and sentences in the passage.
So, reading comprehension in English text not only on how you
read well (accuracy of pronunciation and loud voice). But, reading
comprehension is an activity to build understanding of the meaning of a
passage which then could be translated by you and through your own
language. Furthermore it all can be useful for others.
Why reading comprehension so important? because without
comprehension in reading, students just like a parrot which imitate one's
language without understanding the meaning. Then, understanding of
reading comprehension is not just to be the great imitator in the future. But
they become a person who is able to take knowledge and apply it using
their creations.
Reading comprehension does look easy, but at least there are two
difficulties that students get. First, in a reading English, many students do
not understand the vocabulary. Is it possible, the students want to get an
idea but do not understand the meaning of the word. Second, reading
 comprehension requires a process. Because of it uses a technique or
strategy tp understanding a reading is a very important.

1.2 Problem Formulation

The formulation of the problem of this paper is:
1. What is the topic of the passage ?
2. What is main idea in the paragraph of the text ?
3. What is the information contained of the text ?
4. What is the vocabulary in context question ?

REVIEWS THEORY

2.1 Main Idea

Main idea is the sentence that describes the entire contents of a text or
discourse. Main idea is usually found at the beginning of the paragraph, at the
end of the paragrph, or at the beginning and the end of a paragraph, or entire
discourse.
The questions used to ask the main idea:
a) What is the main idea of this passage
b) What is the topic of this passage
c) What is the passage mainly talking about?
d) The text is mainly talking about .....
e) The passage is about ..
2.2 Detail Questions
Finding details helps you understand a reading better. You can find
details by asking yourself questions. As you read, ask questions with
who, what, when, where, and why.
2.3 Context Clue
In reading and listening, a context clue is information (such as a
definition, synonym, antonym, or example) that appears near a word or
phrase and offers direct or indirect suggestions about its meaning.
2.4 Reference
Reference questions ask about the meanings of pronouns and
demonstratives such as they, it, he, she, which, who, that, and this. The
goal of these questions is simple: you need to decide what the pronoun
or phrase refers to.
General Startegy (Strategi Umum)

1. First read the questions at a glance. Make sure you understand the core
questions of each question, Then find the answer to the problem by reading

2. there are two quick reading techniques that you must master when answering
this section, skimming and scanning. Skimming is a technique to quickly read the
first or last sentence of a paragraph to find out and understand the main topic and
idea of reading. While scanning is a technique Carefully reading certain sentences
to know the meaning or meaning of the sentence.

3. when you read, look at the question to see which parts of the text need to be
read more thoroughly.

4.If you are hard to interpret vocabulary, then try to understand it by looking at the
context of the sentence

5. avoid repetition of reading because it will reduce the speed of your reading.

6. Avoid the habit of saying or sounding a word when reading because it will
slow down your reading process.

7. Extend the range of your outlook. Its purpose is to help you read more text
reading when compared to spelling words

8 . Use finger tracking, which is your finger movement from top to bottom. This
will help your eyes to make your eyes move faster than the top of the spirit
properly.

With the number of communication methods availbale
today , its easy to stay in touch with your friends and family back
home . You can easily find internet cafes to communicate with them
by emails or instant messages . Besides , You use you personal
computer or laptop and connect it to internet
If you are travelling by car , it would be wise to have a cell
phone with you in case of emergency . You can go to any grocery
store and buy a prepaid , no contract cell phone for a reasonable rate.
You can add more talking time to the phone with a credit card.
To use a payphone , you will need plenty of coins(No
pennies) before you start calling . A local call in most costs 50 cents .
Long distance calls will be much more expensive . A better option
might be to buy a prepaid phone card instead of coins . Instructions
are printed on the cards .But if you plan on making a lot of calls,the
prepaid cell phone option is much better than the cards .
America states and cities have many different area codes
for phone service . There could be numerous area codes within a
single metropolitan . These area codes are listed in all phone books . if
you are going to call a long distance number , youll need to dial 1
and then the area code followed by the number .

CONCLUSION

4.1 Conclusion
In the test such as examination and TOEIC or TOEFL test there is always
question about Main Idea. Main idea is the sentence that describes the entire
contents of a text or discourse. The purpose of Detail questions is to finding
details helps you understand a reading better. In the text there is always the word
that we dont understand what the meaning, but with context clue we can find the
meaning. To answer a reference question, substitue thefour choices given to you
for the reference word. The one that is the best substitute for it is the correct
answer.

4.2 Suggestion

When reading passages we should be carefull and consentration in

every sentencesin pharagraph, because it could be a clue for us in order to
understand the meaning of text. If we understand the meaning of the text
then we can answer the question easily such as main idea, detail question,
context clue and reference.
