1. The question paper comprises of two Sections, A and B. You are to attempt both the sections.
2. All questions are compulsory
3. All questions of Section-A and all questions of Section-B are to be attempted separately.
4. Question numbers 1 to 3 in Section-A are one mark questions. These are to be answered in one
word or in one sentence
5. Question numbers 4 to 6 in Sections-A are two marks questions. These are to be answered in
about 30 words each.
6. Question numbers 7 to 18 in Section-A are three marks questions. These are to be answered in
about 50 words each
7. Question numbers 19 to 24 in Section-A are five marks questions. These are to be answered in
about 70 words each.
8. Question numbers 25 to 33 in Section-B are multiple choice questions based on practical skills.
Each question is a one mark question. You are to select one most appropriate response out of the
four provided to you.
9. Question numbers 34 to 36 in Section-B are questions based on practical skills. Each question is of
two marks.
SECTION-A
1 Differentiate between gustatory receptors and olfactory receptors. 1
2 Define the SI unit of Resistance. 1
3 The chief constituent of biogas is methane. List any two other constituents of biogas. 1
4 Explain how an ant acid works. 2
5 (i) In nature, metal A is found in free state while metal B is found in the form of 2
its compounds. Which of the two will be nearer to the top of the activity series
of metals? Why?
(ii) In a solution of silver nitrate, a copper coin was placed. After sometime silver
from the solution was deposited on the copper coin. Which metal is more reactive,
copper or silver? Why?

15 Can a freely suspended current carrying solenoid stay in any direction? Justify your 3
answer. What will happen when the direction of current in the solenoid is reversed?
Explain.
16 Crosses represent a uniform magnetic field directed into the paper. A conductor 3
XY placed in the field carries current in Y to X direction. Find the direction of the
force experienced by the conductor. Name the rule you applied. What will happen to
the direction of force if the direction of field and direction of current both are
reversed?
17 There was a poster making competition in a school on a topic SAVE ENERGY. The 3
students were also asked to give write ups on this topic. A student of the school is

29 When zinc granules are added to the copper sulphate solution, which of the
observations will not be made ?
(i) A blackish deposit is seen on zinc. 1
(ii) Blue solution becomes colourless.
(iii) Reddish brown deposit is seen on zinc.

30 In an experiment to find the equivalent resistance of a series combination of two 1
resistors of 3 and 4 in the circuit diagram given below, the circuit will give :
(a) Incorrect reading for current I and correct reading for voltage V
(b) Incorrect readings for both current I and voltage V
(c) Correct reading for current I and incorrect reading for voltage V
(d) Correct readings for both voltage V and current I
31 A student while performing the experiment to measure the equivalent resistance of a 1
combination of resistance as per circuit given below, notes that the potential difference
across the ends of both resistance joined in parallel is equal to :

33 An experimental set-up to show that CO2 is released during respiration was 1
observed by four students A, B, C and D. The experiment did not show result as
expected. The error identified by A, B, C, D in the given set up is as given below.
