about 30 words each.
6. Question numbers 7 to 18 in Section-A are three marks questions. These are to be answered in
about 50 words each
7. Question numbers 19 to 24 in Section-A are five marks questions. These are to be answered in
about 70 words each.
8. Question numbers 25 to 33 in Section-B are multiple choice questions based on practical skills.
Each question is a one mark question. You are to select one most appropriate response out of the
four provided to you.
9. Question numbers 34 to 36 in Section-B are questions based on practical skills. Each question is of
two marks.

1 Differentiate between gustatory receptors and olfactory receptors. 1

5 (i) In nature, metal A is found in free state while metal B is found in the form of 2

of metals? Why?
(ii) In a solution of silver nitrate, a copper coin was placed. After sometime silver
from the solution was deposited on the copper coin. Which metal is more reactive,
copper or silver? Why?
6 Name the two enzymes secreted by pancreas. Write the function performed by these 2

answer. What will happen when the direction of current in the solenoid is reversed?

16 Crosses represent a uniform magnetic field directed into the paper. A conductor 3
XY placed in the field carries current in Y to X direction. Find the direction of the
force experienced by the conductor. Name the rule you applied. What will happen to
the direction of force if the direction of field and direction of current both are
reversed?

17 There was a poster making competition in a school on a topic SAVE ENERGY. The 3

to air ?
(c) List two damages caused by corrosion and suggest how corrosion can be
prevented.
20 (a) A student dropped a few pieces of marble in dilute hydrochloric acid contained 5
in a test tube. The evolved gas was passed through lime water. What change would
be observed in lime water? Write balanced chemical equations for both the changes
observed.
(b) State the chemical property in each case on which the following uses of baking
soda are based :
(i) as an antacid
(ii) as a constituent of baking powder.
21 With the help of suitable examples explain the terms phototropism geotropism and 5
chemotropism.
22 (a) A current 'I' is flowing through a resistor of resistance 'R' having potential 5
difference V across its ends and in time t charge Q flows. Derive an expression
for the heat produced.
(b) What will happen to the heat produced if the current passing through an
electric heater has been halved?
23 (a) Explain what is the difference between a direct current and an alternating 5
current? Write one important advantage of using alternating current.
(b) An air conditioner of 2 kW is used in an electric circuit having a fuse of 10 A
rating. If the potential difference of the supply is
220 V, will the fuse be able to withstand, when the air conditioner is switched on ?
Justify your answer.
24 (a) With the help of a circuit diagram, deduce the equivalent resistance of two 5
resistances connected in series .
(b) Two resistances are connected in series as shown in the diagram.
