Question 1
My race is MENA as per the new classification of races. Notably is that my racial
background of Saudi Arabia was originally classified as white but over time there has
been a change. This change will be imposed in the 2020 census (Korte, 1-15).

Question 2
I am Arabic. My origin is Saudi Arabia (a gulf state).

Question 3
I have learnt this via the way people treat me, that is, being addressed
differentially from other people. I have also learnt it when it was reported that there
would be changes in the manner in which races are reported in America.

Question 4
Race can be considered as a myth in two ways. First is that the categorization can
be changed as it is happening in my case. Second is that a peoples race does not reflect
what they are but what people think about them. Race is thus a mere social construction
as noted by Peggy McIntosh (TEDxTalks).
Race which bears racism in a society is a reality in the sense that belonging to a
minority group in America can land you in prison or offer you privileges in terms of
affirmative action (UChicago).
For affirmative action which is a form of discrimination, people of other colors
cannot be treated in an equal manner in terms of social justice for blacks get the
privilege. A good example as Chokal notes is joining medical school with lower grades
(Chokal-Ingam, 1-10).

Question 5
Race is different from ethnicity in the sense that race focuses on the peoples
biological and outward appearance. Race is also unitary in the sense that one cannot
belong to two races unlike ethnicity where one may belong to different ethnical
backgrounds (Stump 1-23). Race is biological whereas ethnicity is based on culture. In
terms of similarity, race and ethnicity have a common ideology which is ancestry.
