1.1. Importantsafetyinformation
Thisvariablespeeddriveproduct(Optidrive)isintendedforprofessionalincorporationintocompleteequipmentorsystems.Ifinstalledincorrectly
itmaypresentasafetyhazard.TheOptidriveuseshighvoltagesandcurrents,carriesahighlevelofstoredelectricalenergy,andisusedtocontrol
mechanicalplantthatmaycauseinjury.Closeattentionisrequiredtosystemdesignandelectricalinstallationtoavoidhazardsineithernormal
operationorintheeventofequipmentmalfunction.
Systemdesign,installation,commissioningandmaintenancemustbecarriedoutonlybypersonnelwhohavethenecessarytrainingand
experience.TheymustcarefullyreadthissafetyinformationandtheinstructionsinthisGuideandfollowallinformationregardingtransport,
storage,installationanduseoftheOptidrive,includingthespecifiedenvironmentallimitations.

productisusedmustcomplywithDirective89/392/EEC,SafetyofMachinery.Inparticular,theelectricalequipmentshouldcomplywithEN60204

Optidrivesshouldbeinstalledonlybyqualifiedelectricalpersonsandinaccordancewithlocalandnationalregulationsandcodesof
practice.TheOptidrivehasanIngressProtectionratingofIP20.ForhigherIPratings,useasuitableenclosure.
Electricshockhazard!DisconnectandISOLATEtheOptidrivebeforeattemptinganyworkonit.Highvoltagesarepresentatthe
terminalsandwithinthedriveforupto10minutesafterdisconnectionoftheelectricalsupply.
Wheresupplytothedriveisthroughaplugandsocketconnector,donotdisconnectuntil10minuteshaveelapsedafterturningoffthe
supply.
Ensurecorrectearthingconnections.Theearthcablemustbesufficienttocarrythemaximumsupplyfaultcurrentwhichnormallywill
belimitedbythefusesorMCB
TheSTOPfunctiondoesnotremovepotentiallylethalhighvoltages.ISOLATEthedriveandwait10minutesbeforecommencingany
work.
ParameterP101canbesettooperatethemotoratupto120,000rpm,henceusethisparameterwithcare.
Ifitisdesiredtooperatethedriveatanyfrequency/speedabovetheratedspeed(P109/P110)ofthemotor,consultthe
manufacturersofthemotorandthedrivenmachineaboutsuitabilityforoverspeedoperation.
Thefan(iffitted)insideoftheOptidrivestartsautomaticallywhentheheatsinktemperaturereachesapproximately45C.
CarefullyinspecttheOptidrivebeforeinstallationtoensureitisundamaged
IndoorUseOnly.
Flammablematerialshouldnotbeplacedclosetothedrive
Theentryofconductiveorflammableforeignbodiesshouldbeprevented
Relativehumiditymustbelessthan95%(noncondensing).
Ensurethatthesupplyvoltage,frequencyandno.ofphases(1or3phase)correspondtotheratingoftheOptidriveasdelivered.
Anisolatorshouldbeinstalledbetweenthepowersupplyandthedrive.
NeverconnectthemainspowersupplytotheOutputterminalsU,V,W.
SuitablyratedfusesorMCBshouldbefittedinthemainssupplytothedrive.
Donotinstallanytypeofautomaticswitchgearbetweenthedriveandthemotor.
Wherevercontrolcablingisclosetopowercabling,maintainaminimumseparationof100mmandarrangecrossingsat90degrees.

Ensurethatallterminalsaretightenedtotheappropriatetorquesetting

1.2. ElectromagneticCompatibility(EMC)
OptidrivesaredesignedtohighstandardsofEMCandcanoptionallybefittedwithaninternalEMCfilter.ThisEMCfilterisdesignedtoreducethe
conductedemissionsbackintothesupplyviathepowercablesforcompliancewithharmonisedEuropeanstandards.
ItistheresponsibilityoftheinstallertoensurethattheequipmentorsystemintowhichtheproductisincorporatedcomplieswiththeEMC
legislationofthecountryofuse.WithintheEuropeanUnion,equipmentintowhichthisproductisincorporatedmustcomplywith89/336/EEC,
EMC.

ForapplicationsthatrequireahigherIPratingthantheIP20offeredbythestandarddrive,thedrivemustbemountedinasuitablemetallic
enclosure.Thefollowingguidelinesshouldbeobservedfortheseapplications:

CarefullyinspecttheOptidrivepriortocommencingtoensureitisundamaged
InstalltheOptidriveonaflat,vertical,flameresistant,vibrationfreemounting.
ForIP20Optidrives,installinasuitableenclosure,accordingtoEN60529ifspecificIngressProtectionratingsarerequired.
Enclosuresshouldbemadefromathermallyconductivematerial
DonotmountflammablematerialclosetotheOptidrive
Whereventedenclosuresareused,thereshouldbeventingaboveandbelowthedrivetoensuregoodaircirculationseethediagram
below.Airshouldbedrawninbelowthedriveandexpelledabovethedrive.
Inanyenvironmentswheretheconditionsrequireit,theenclosuremustbedesignedtoprotecttheOptidriveagainstingressofairborne
dust,corrosivegasesorliquids,conductivecontaminants(suchascondensation,carbondust,andmetallicparticles)andspraysor
splashingwaterfromalldirections.
Highmoisture,saltorchemicalcontentenvironmentsshoulduseasuitablysealed(nonvented)enclosure.

OptidrivePlususesasophisticatedVoltageVectorControlMethodasafactorydefaultsettingtoensurebestpossiblemotoroperation.This
controlmethodrequirestheOptidrivetocarryoutanautotunetomeasurecertainmotorparameterspriortooperation,toensurethisfunction
operatescorrectly,andreducetheriskofnuisancetripping.

Whilsttheautotuneproceduredoesnotdriveorspinthemotor,themotorshaftmaystillturn.Itisnotnormallynecessaryto
uncoupletheloadfromthemotor;howevertheusershouldensurethatnoriskarisesfromthepossiblemovementofthemotor
shaft.

AutotuneafterFactoryResetorfromFactorySetParameters
Followingafactoryreset(Seesection5.4),thecorrectdatafromthemotornameplateshouldbeenteredinP107(MotorRatedVoltage),P108
