DESIGN AND IMPLEMENTATION OF A COMPUTERIZE JOB

RECRUITMENT SYSTEM

ABSTRACT
The advancement in information technology has greatly improved job recruitment.
Computerize job recruitment system evolved from the long existed prototypical
system. This work has designed and implemented a computerized job recruitment
system. This provides user-friendly interactive software environment coated with
value added services like accurate result processing system and lots more. The
Structured System Analysis and Design methodology was adopted in designing the
computerized recruitment system. The system will be able to remove the numerous
problems associated with the existing system by introducing web based application
software into the existing system to bring participation to prospective applicant at
the comfort of their home provided there is internet connectivity.

CHAPTER ONE

INTRODUCTION

1.1 BACKGROUND OF THE STUDY

A job is the regular activity performed in exchange of payment. Person usually

begins a job becoming an employee, volunteering, or starting a business. The

duration of job may range from an hour (in the case of odd job) to a lifetime (in the

case of some odd judges). If a person is trained for a certain type of job, they may

have a profession. The series of jobs a person holds in their life is their career.

Recruitment refers to the process of attracting, screening, selecting, and on-

boarding a qualified person for a job. At the strategic level it may involve the

development of an employer brand which includes an employee offering.

The stages of the recruitment process include: job analysis and developing a person

Specification; the sourcing of candidates by networking, adverting, or other search

methods; matching candidate to job recruitments and screening individual using

testing(skill or personality assessment);assessment of candidates motivations and

their fit with organizational requirements by interviewing and other assessment

techniques. The recruitment process also includes the making and finalizing of job

offers and the induction and on-boarding of new employees.

Depending on the size and culture of the organization recruitment may be

undertaken ln-house managers, human resource generalists and/ or recruitment

specialists. Alternatively parts of all of the process might be undertaken by either

public sector employment agencies, or commercial recruitment agencies, or

commercial recruitment agencies, or specialist search consultancies.

Computerise job recruitment: Is the act of scouring the computer to locate both

actively searching job seekers and also individual who are content in their current

position (this are called passive candidates).it is the field of dramatic growth and

constant changes that has given birth to a dynamic multibillion dollar industry.

Traditionally, recruiter use large job boards, niche job board , as well as social and

business networking to locate these individuals. The immediate goal of internet

recruiting is to find individuals that a recruiter or a company can present to hiring

manager for that purpose of employment quite often, internet or computer

For Enquiries SMS or CALL: +2347014749716, +2348110288930

recruiters have very short term goals when it comes to recruiting online. The

general catalyst that sparks this process is when a job requisite comes in (called a

REQ).The recruiter scans he or her database to see if anyones resume match the

requirements. if not, they proceed to search on the internet.

The challenge arises when recruiters contact passive candidates willy-nilly. If the

person is not currently seeking for a job .the generally not having interest in

learning about new positions.

Excessive contacts of this nature could lead to complaints of spam. A far more

logical way to approach internet recruiting is for recruiter to view themselves as an

authority Site [clarification needed] and answer the whats in it for me (WIIFM]

question that all individual have:

Whats in it for me to act upon your email?

If a recruiter also offers resources such as career help, salary information, how to

manage job stress, and the like, they break out of stereotypical headhunter mode

and enter into the valued resource mode to the individuals they contact.

1.2 STATEMENT OF THE PROBLEM.

Presently, the method of advertisement of vacant positions in the

Nigeria Security and Civil Defense Corps is through the newspapers,

radio and television advertisements which still cannot pass first hand

information to the general populace. Some candidates have privileged

information than others.

Also the present method used in conducting the recruitment process

takes a longer time and tend to favour connected candidates.

The exercise is also crude and out of fashion. It requires moving from

one place to another, since the exercise is usually done in one town for

a particular geo-political zone or state.

1.3 OBJECTIVES OF THE STUDY

The main objective of this research is to design and develop computerized job

recruitment software for Nigeria security and civil defence corps that will do the

following:

Provide online registration for candidates within and outside the state

or region of recruitment.

Sort the candidates to different categories of available positions.

Provide equity in the selection of qualified candidates according to

the available positions

Provide accurate and faster processing in selection of qualified

candidates

1.3 SIGNIFICANCE OF THE STUDY

Manual job recruitment process has become prone to errors, mistakes and

blunders.Incidences of loss of lives, poor crowd management, unending queues

and loss of records are commonplace in the job recruitment sector in Nigeria.

NSCDC deploys a manual approach to job recruitment and as such there is a high

level of delay in the delivery and processing of aptitude tests and interviews to its

teeming applicants. The need for an efficient approach to job recruitment therefore

arises.Consequently this project work is general towards the design and

implementation of a computerized job recruitment portal to quicken the processes

of collating, processing and reporting results of recruitment exercises in a manner

that enhances productivity and user satisfaction

1.5 SCOPE OF THE STUDY

The scope of this project work covers the entire recruitment process. The

system is computerized to take away malicious activity in the system for the

credible candidate to take the rightful position which he/she deserves.

1.6 LIMITATION OF THE STUDY

The project work undertaken here is based on an experimental design of real life

job recruitment processes

The software developed may not address all the problems of the manual

system.Functions such as automatic job placement and filtering, job descriptions

and applicants performance monitory are not included in this work.

However the software has characteristic features that depict a real life job

recruitment portal and it is able details of applicants qualifications.
