Present the method to determine system parameters such as the Source Impedance
(Zs), Capacitance Impedance (Xc), Impedance with Capacitor (Cap) and without Cap,
Impedance Gain and Current Gain.
To calculate the source impedance Zs, we have to consider the impedance of the source and the
impedance of the transformer, which is given by:

Zs fh Zsource ZT fh Zsource 2 Lf h

Capacitance Impedance on the circuit is given by:

j
X C X C fh
2 f hC

Impedance with capacitor when looking from the harmonic source is given by:

Z s f h X eq f h
Zckk f h
Z s f h X eq f h

In which Z eq is the equivalent impedance of the capacitor and inductor on the circuit.

X C fh
X eq f h X C f h X L f h X C f h
25

Impedance without capacitor when looking from the harmonic source is given by:
Zs fh X L fh
Z kk f h
Zs fh X L fh

Impedance gain from the circuit is given by:

X C fh X L fh
GZ f h
ZS fh X C fh X L fh

The current gain of the circuit are given by:

I sh f h
GI fh
I ch f h

In which, when applying Kirchhoffs current law and current divider, we have:

X C fh X L fh
I sh f h Ih
ZS fh X C fh X L fh
ZS fh
I ch f h Ih
ZS fh X C fh X L fh

From the equations, we can calculate the parameter from the 2nd harmonic to 8th harmonic like
table below:
Harmonic ZS XC XL Z kk Z kkC GZ I h A I sh A I ch A GI
2 2.12 13.26 0.53 0.42 1.84 4.33 20 23.8 3.8 6.26
3 3.18 8.84 0.35 0.32 2.36 7.42 20 31.2 11.2 2.79
4 4.24 6.63 0.27 0.25 2.63 10.52 20 55.4 35.4 1.56
5 5.3 5.01 0.2 0.19 2.63 13.61 20 1405.2 1405 1
6 7.42 3.78 0.15 0.15 2.57 17.34 20 20.8 40.8 0.51
7 11.66 2.41 0.1 0.1 2.06 21.58 20 4.2 25.2 0.21
8 13.8 2.04 0.08 0.08 1.84 22.67 20 3.48 23.4 0.15

The resonance occurs in the 5th harmonic.

b. Using appropriate software to calculate those system parameters. Then plot the
graph to see the effect of series resonance when it occurs.
By using Matlab software, we can calculate the system parameter from 1 harmonic to 15
harmonic (or more) with the code below:
The results are as shown as below:
