Type of Study:
This study is of quantitative type.
1(a). The study is necessary because it shows us that how education in parents can make their
children healthy and prevents diseases like diarrhea.
(b) It is loosely based upon demographic data of Ethopia, government health department inputs
and other studies which show higher prevalence of diarrhea in Ethiopian children.
3(a). Yes they use quantitative approach in this study via survey.
(b) The study included mothers who had children aged less than 5 years and are permanent
residents of selected kebeles(small villages)
(c) Sample was good. All available mothers of children under 5 years included who were
resident of villages but visitor mothers were left out.
5(a) Independent Variables: Age, Mother Education, Mother Occupation, Family Size, Type of
House, Waste Disposal System, Availability of latrine,
Dependent Variables: Knowledge about diarrhea, Drinking water source, Diarrhea episodes.
6(a) Pros: Structured questioner for clear understanding. Reach to almost every sampled
mother in village. Easy to conclude
(b) Different methods can be used but this method is accurate and more suitable
(b) it will help authorities understand link between education and infective diseases like
diarrhea.
(b) Yes this study is really important that can help to improve quality of life for children in
Ethiopia. Moreover it is worth publishing so that people around the world can benefit from
these findings and help the children.
(C) This study can be further extended by conducting a small diarrhea awareness workshop in
village and then after 1 year check the situation with similar study that how education can
change the scenario.
