Online Activity This is an asynchronous course and the materials that are needed
will be provided ahead of time. The teacher will record a lecture on
voice thread and introduce the branches of the government and their
powers, this lecture will focus primarily on the Executive Branch of
government. The students will then be asked to complete a
simulation of being president for four years using the simulation
called Executive Command

Students will be directed to iCivics.com, from a clickable link at the

end of the lecture, where they are going to complete the simulation.
The students can complete this simulation with an account or
without an account. If the student is not able to complete the
simulation in one sitting it is recommended that they make an
account, as the account saves your work. The simulation may take
30-45 minutes depending on the student. The students start a new
game and then select on the normal pace version. The students will
then be directed to choose their president character, after they have
selected their character, they must choose their agenda that want to
complete in their four years as president. After they selected that,
they must accurately make legislation and pass them in the right
department as well as avoid war while also keeping your approval
rating high and your agenda on track.
Pedagogy

When the students have completed the simulation, they should have
a better knowledge on how laws are passed and the job of the
president. The student will receive a certificate at the end of the
simulation that they will save to attach to their Discussion board
assignment. On the discussion Board assignment, the students must
write about their experience as president, and be sure to include
what their approval rating was and how much they completed of
their agenda. The students must also respond to at least two other
classmates on how they could have changed their presidents path.
