Lectures
Lectures will be held:
Thursday 8:00-10:00 and Fridays 8:00-10:00 (A-205)
These will consist of:
pure lectures (~20 h)
examples and help on exercises
guidance on project work.
I will be available for questions in the breaks between the
lectures
However, I will at times have to attend other activities related
to my main employer. I will try to keep you all informed when I
will be unable to be present at lectures.

Groups of up to 3 students may collaborate on the projects.

To be presented to class and evaluator (~last week of

lectures).

Written version to be submitted no later than Friday 12:00 on

week before presentation.
9
Project - Topics
Preferable on the topic of strength of deterioated structures or
structural members
If possible use actual older structure
Shall include at least 3 of these items:
Statistical evaluation of loads and strength incl. determination of characteristic values or
structural reliability analysis
Ageing issues for structures generally and for the chosen structure specifically
Methods and examples for how to include information about new information
(degradation, inspections, proof loading, etc) in the assessment.
Assessment methods for ageing structures
Structural analysis and calculation of ULS, ALS and FLS limit states for deteriorated
structures.
Mitigations for life extension
Risk and reliability analysis of structures
In-service integrity management of the structure

Project presentation and grading
The presentation of the work shall be presented for the class ~
last week of lecturing (taking into account that external
evaluator has to be available).

Shared presentation by all members of group

Grades will be given based on presentation and written report.
