(a) Briefly discuss the important characteristics of major modes of
transportation in India.
(b) Briefly explain the various requirements of an ideal road alignment.
(c) What are the various geometric elements to be considered in
highway design? Differentiate between the term 'Camber' and
'Super elevation'.
(d) What are the different sight distances considered in road geometry
design? Briefly explain the significance of each of them.
(e) Calculate the safe stopping sight distance for design speed 60
Kmph for two way traffic on a two lane road.
(f) Calculate the stopping sight distance on a highway at descending
gradient of 2% for a design speed of 80 Kmph, where f = 0.3 and
