Lathe machine, Milling machine, drilling machine, grinding machine - types, construction, diagram, operations to be performed and types of cutting tools, its materials and use. Types of metal joining processes:- Welding, soldering, brazing- Types, working principle, industrial applications Types of surface finishing processes- types, working principle, applications Types of spanners - their materials and uses box, socket, tubular, hook spanner etc., Properties and uses of ferrous and non ferrous metals & their alloys such as cast iron, wrought iron, mild steel, high speed steel, aluminum, copper, tin, lead, zinc, brass, bronze, white metal, rubber, plastic etc. Work bench, bench vice, different types of vices, Files:- file parts and material classification of files based on grades, cut shape, length etc Types of chisels: - materials, specification and applications. Types of gears:- types, material and uses of different types of gears Types of power transmission devices: - belt drive, rope drive, chain drive - 2. Introduction to measurement techniques:- Introduction to measuring and checking instruments, Non precision linear measurement by using steel rule, depth rule, hook rule & zigzag rule, tape etc. Study of height gauges, slip gauges, Dial indicators construction and uses, various types Micro meters types, important features and applications e.g. thread checking micro meter, flange micro meter, depth micro meter etc, sine bar, slip gauges. Introduction of inspection techniques: - inspection, quality control, quality assurance, total quality management concepts and quality awareness. 3. Drawing reading and interpretation:- Translate mechanical & electronic technical drawing, types of drawing, drawing tools etc 4. Introduction to hydraulics and pneumatics: Industrial hydraulics principles, advantages, disadvantages and safety. Study of block diagram of hydraulic system in general.
