OHM: Srimad Bhagvatam-Canto-9; Summary of Chapter-3:

In this chapter the story of Sukanya, the daughter of Sharyaathi, the Son of Vaivaswata Manu, and the story of Revathy, the great granddaughter of the

Manu are described. King Sharyaathi, was a master of the (highest) Truth (Vedartha), forming the subject-matter of the Vedas. He authoritatively advised

the ritualistic course at the sacrifice performed by the scions of the sage Angira. One day Sharyaathi took his daughter, Sukanya along with some of his

army men and a few of her friends, to the forest to visit the hermitage of the sage Chyavana. There Sukanya perceived in the hole of an ant-hill a pair of

bright things like two fire-flies/glow-worms/ minnaminungu. Impelled by destiny, the girl in her childish innocence actually pricked the two bright things

with a thorn. A good deal of blood flowed from them. That very moment there ensued on the armies, the obstruction of stool and urine. Astonished to

discover this, the royal sage asked them whether any injury has been wrought by anyone to the sage Chyavana (the son of Bhrgu). Seized with fear, Sukanya

told him what had happened. The King did proper propitiation to the Maharshi and when came to know the tatter's mind, he gave away (the hand of) his

daughter to the sage.Princess Sukanya, tried to please him with her services. After some lapse of time the two Aswinikumaras (the celestial physicians)

called at his hermitage. Receiving them with due respect, and offering them Somarasam, which was so far not given to them along with the Havirbhagam,

the sage requested them to give him back his youth. They transformed him into a very handsome youth.Once, sometime afterwards king Sharyaathi visited

his daughter (Sukanya), and seeing her with a male possessing the effulgence of the sun, he scolded his daughter for cheating her old husband and nowliving

with a youth. She told him the true story and added that he is her same old husband, but the transformation took place with the blessings of Deva Vaidyas.

King Sharyaathis joy knew no bounds. When Devendra came to know that Chyavana gave Havirbhagam and Somarasa to Aswinikumaras, he tried to kill

them with his thunderbolt. The Divine Physicians made Indrajis hand paralyzed along with the thunderbolt.Three sons were born to King Sharyaathi.

Revatha was born to one of the three and he made Kushasthalee City (Later became Dwaraka Puri) in the midst of the sea. He had 100 sons. The eldest

son Kakudmis daughter was Revathy, later married to Balarama (Balabhadra/Baladeva) Swamy, a part manifestation (Sankarshana or Anantha) of the

Supreme Deity/ the Supreme Lord Sree Hari. King Kakudmi did so and retired to Badarikasrama for Tapas.

Thus ends the third discourse, in Book Nine of the great and glorious Bhagavata-Purana, otherwise known as the Paramahamsa-Samhita.

Sree Haraye Namaha..
